How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe bungalows are so fun, we really enjoyed waking up to an amazing ocean view every morning. The staff are AMAZING, just the best humans imaginable. Warm, friendly, always eager to help and share island knowledge, we’ll come back for the staff alone! Dislikes, the mini fridge, where 100% of food has to be stored because of ants, only sort of worked. Plus, a party of four and a mini fridge for everything just doesn’t provide enough space for drinks and snacks when we just wanted to hang out and not drive to lunch or dinner. Lastly, the driveway to the resort… maybe do a little bit of road maintenance?

Verified reviewEverything! The view, the well kept grounds and the beautiful nature, amazing sunset and just one in a lifetime experience for us and our kid who “slept” on a house on a tree. We loved the design of the bungalow we stayed and in general how this lodge was created.

Verified reviewReally unique and cool place. We stayed in Maara and it felt like a jungle treehouse. The grounds are immaculately kept. Best to have a car to come here as it’s at the far other end from where the airport is and taxis are very expensive. Much more quiet down here, there are some small local restaurants nearby.

Verified reviewLocation was amazing with beautiful views and easy access to the wave. Our bungalow was quirky in a fun way and well equipped. Staff was very helpful and accommodating. They allowed two of us to split a breakfast which was greatly appreciated and the breakfast was delicious.
Beware that this idyll is in the wilds and you will see lizards and mosquitoes in your bungalow. Pools are not long enough to swim laps. The restaurant had the same menu for dinner the two nights that we were there, with just three entrees, and overpriced, but then so is everything in Tahiti!

Verified reviewBeautiful grounds, good food, good location, amazing views.
We stayed in Harai Bungalow and the bathroom has no door to shower or toilet and toilet floor wood get covered in water from the shower. There was warm water only that took 5 minutes to come through. It became very damp. Everything was damp as the bungalow had lots of gaps between walls and ceiling allowing many mosquitoes in and because it is surrounded by bush they were quite bothersome. We could not dry anything and only had one towel every two days. We did ask for room change on arrival but there were no other rooms for the 3 nights.

Verified reviewLoved the aesthetic of the whole place. This is an exceptionally beautiful location and the fales all have their own very private aspect. The rooms are unconventionally built using modern takes on heritage materials, and are comfortable, spacious and interesting. All facilities are designed with the user in mind. Wifi is only available at the restaurant, which got our teenagers a bit more energised. There is plenty to do around the place with the highlight being the Thomas Church inspired pool; sheltered and beautifully designed.
Having to go to the restaurant for fresh drinking water is a bit of a drawback, but not major. The restaurant is expensive to eat at, but the food is good, and the cost is not out of line with resorts etc, also the kitchen facilities in the room mean you have a choice to eat there or not.

Verified reviewThis is one of my favourite places I’ve ever stayed. The facilities were beautiful (we were in Aito cabin and it was one of the more basic ones comparatively and it was still mindblowly beautiful!!!). The views were amazing, great shower and comfortable beds with the perfect balance of simple of luxurious. It rained during our stay for at least half of it and it honestly didn’t matter. We also thought the wifi was good in the hut and it was nice to disconnect at other times and the food was honestly unbelievable. I couldn’t believe some reviews say just okay. Yep, it’s expensive but food is very expensive in French Polynesia. The service was amazing - especially for two non French/Tahitian speakers, they were so kind and accomodating. The value for money overall was incredible, this was the cheapest place of our stay and perhaps the best. Don’t second guess at all, just book. Ps. Book the wave safari - you won’t regret it.
Honestly nothing but just be weary of the very steep driveway. There is mirrors to help - we had no issues in our very tiny rental car.

Verified reviewThe beauty of the land is matched by the beauty of its people. The location, the innovative design of the buildings to work with the natural environment, the staff, the food, it was simply perfect.
There is nothing to not like.

Verified reviewGreat views and it was nice to be "almost" in the jungle. Also, I liked that there was no air conditioning. Two swimming pools are nice places for the active rest.
