How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Verified reviewWe had the most wonderful stay with Gelt and Janice - it was the perfect way to end our month in the Philippines. They are such genuine, warm people and we enjoyed their company immensely. An additional highlight was the superb food they made for us - so wholesome and super tasty! It was also quite a relief to be at a higher elevation with its cooler temperatures and there was a spectacular view out to sea from there. On our last day, we just stayed up there all day and chilled out in the peace and quiet. The perfect end. Note that the drive from sea level up to the house is quite long and because we just couldn’t face it on a motorbike, we hired a car which worked really well for us. But we were the first guests that had chosen to do this so a motorbike must be perfectly ok. I think we had just run out of steam.
The bed was slightly on the small side for us but still ok.

Thank you again for your stay, we enjoyed as much as you did🥂 For those who wonder about the bed, it is a box-spring in a mahogany frame sized 130x220 cm, hence extra long for tall foreigners. there is simply not enough space to place a King-size bed. Trust this helps making decisions.

Verified reviewWonderful house up in the mountains with a great everchanging view. The temperature is nice and cool up there, no need for AC. Breakfast was really really good with fresh food from the garden and home baked bread. Most importantly, Gelt and Janice are the best hosts who are happy to tell you about the island if you're interested, make the best ice cream and simply do everything to make you feel at home.

Our hosts went above and beyond, offering incredible food, great recommendations, and warm hospitality that made our time here truly special. One of the highlights was spending time with all the lovely animals—we will definitely miss them! Verified reviewEven though I only stayed two nights, Janice and Gelt made me feel home. Their home in the mountains of Camiguin was exactly what I was looking for: a relaxing retreat in the nature. From the details and decoration of the Stonehouse, the lush green garden, and tasting healthy, homegrown veggies and fruit as well as banana cake and ice cream while chatting. I wished I could have stayed longer!

Janice and Gelt were incredibly kind, flexible, and genuinely caring. From the moment I arrived, they made me feel right at home with their warm and welcoming communication. They were always available to help with any request and went above and beyond to ensure my stay was perfect. One of the highlights of my visit was the exceptional cooking. Every meal was a delightful experience, with fresh, locally sourced ingredients and expertly prepared dishes that left me eagerly anticipating the next meal. And the coffee – it was simply the best! Each cup was a testament to their dedication to quality and their passion for great coffee. If you’re looking for a tranquil getaway with amazing views, outstanding hospitality, and unforgettable food, this is the place to be. Verified reviewJanice and Gelt are just wonderful Host's. The Stonehouse they built is a beautiful piece of architecture. Very unique build and interior design, with all the facilities one needs. The view is a dream! Overlooking the ocean including Mantigue Island or you look behind and see the beautiful forest. You are up in the Mountain so the only thing you hear is nature, far away from the traffic noise. The food they cook is absolutely delicious with organic ingredients from their land. The food is so good I think I gained a couple of kg's 😋 but the best is just the absolutely wonderful Host's that they are. Very interesting humans to talk to and spend time with (if you choose too, they are very respectful of your privacy). They helped us out with everything they could. I would give a 100 stars but I can only give 10 😊 we loved meeting you guys, thank you for everything, till next time. Jordan and Barbara

Verified reviewThere are not enough stars, no number big enough to rate properly the stay we had at Gert and Janice’s. The little and charming stone house in their garden is just simply amazing, with all the confort needed and great accommodations. The location, on the top of the hill offers great views on the sea and on Mantigue Island below. It also has a cooler climate, which felt really nice in a journey in the Philippines where it can be really hot sometimes. A true oasis of the Camiguin heights. But most of all, our hosts were the nicest, very kind, considerate and lovely. We really enjoyed spending time with them. The breakfasts were the best meals we had in the country so far, after a month and a half traveling around. Everything is fresh and comes from their own garden or nearby, so they can make sure of the origin and healthiness of their products, and it is of course delicious, very well prepared by the couple. We extended our stay, and still were sorry to leave. They made our stay in Camiguin simply unbelievable and unforgettable. We couldn’t be more grateful for their welcome, and simply to have met such nice people in a paradise place.

Verified reviewBreath taking view of the sea and Mantigue island. The couple host Janice & Gelt were very accommodating and served their guests personally. They provide free pick up and drop off. The free wifi is very fast. The castle suite is clean with complete amenities. Cold weather perfect for relaxation and nature-lover. Great garden-fresh food and spring water.
The property is situated higher than the paved road, improvement can be made in easily accessing the higher ground
