Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWhat a beautiful place to stay, only a short walk from Port Barton town, and with the most beautiful team of people. Special thanks to Norma, her husband Viktor, and Mar, who helped me learn some Tagalog. Maraming salamat po for the fun times we spent together!!

United KingdomThe distance from the town was a little further than we expected, but it's easy to get a tuk tuk from the town for 50 pesos. There are often no tuk tuks around near the accommodation so sometimes its a walk or a wait. The fan in our room was basically decorative. Noise can be an issue as neighbours are very close, dogs barking and roosters add to the mix. Earplugs might be essential here.
For something a little different in Port Barton, Backpackers Hill Resort offers very good value, the accommodation near the beach can be very poor value for the quality. The huts were great with a design which allows for air to flow through the walls when there is a breeze. The bathroom was great with a powerful refreshing shower and constant water. The beds are functional with mosquito nets, but really there isn't much of an issue with insects generally. But definitely nice to have. Somewhere to sit outside the hut would be useful and the attached hammocks aren't very well thought out, but easy to hang and dry wet clothes outside. A big plus for us with the location was the Mojito Jungle Bar close by, which is a great option for food and drinks with a unique atmosphere. The resort itself is well done feeling very natural and surrounded by the jungle clad hills. Parking for bikes and cars just outside resort. Breakfast basic but coffee ok, and really just a bonus at the price.

Ireland10 pesos per litre water refill (very cheap but would prefer if they upped the price to include the water)
Beautiful little bungalows in nature. Nice and peaceful place, really helpful and friendly staff. Shower was really nice, good water pressure. Good breakfast of fried egg, toast with butter and a selection of jams, banana, tea and coffee. We also booked our transfer here, which was really good value!! Thank you Norma What I loved was that the mosquito nets were tied to the bed posts so they don’t fall in on you when you sleep!

New ZealandWe liked everything!
Lovely place to stay in Port Barton. It is based approximately 15 minutes' walk from the main area. The huts are basic but clean. The beds have nets, which are needed to keep the mosquitoes away. Norma and the team were very friendly, she helped organise our boat tour and onwards travel which all went smoothly. Having breakfast included was a great bonus!

ColombiaWe stayed here for 3 nights. The stay is at the top of a hill so do expect to walk a bit uphill but it is so worth it! The huts are beautiful and they have everything you might need during your stay. The space around the huts is also beautiful. Everything is very clean as well. The breakfast that's included is small but good! (2 toasts, one egg, one banana and coffee/tea). If you need more they will charge you but for us it was perfect. The town is about a 15 minute walk from the stay which for us was not a problem. The bed was comfortable, the mosquito net was very helpful, the cold water was perfect because it was hot out there. Norma and Victor were very kind to us. She helped us book the island hopping tour and it was a highlight of our stay. Always happy and ready to help. There are rooster and dog noises at night but this has happened at every stay we've had in the Philippines so just bring earplugs for this trip.

FranceThe location is a little bit far from the center but we never had to use a tricycle and could always go by foot, so it was great because away from the noise of the city center.
Staff really helpful and nice ! Accommodations are perfect with everything you need, for this price it’s just so much good value ! Really nice environment on top of a hill !

NetherlandsMy hut didn't have a hammock, I would love to have a hammock. I stayed in hut 7, and it was too far away for the wifi. Also I had no phone signal on the hill, but thats not Backpackers Hill fault of course. My toiletrybag has a hook, but the bathroom doesn't have a hook to hang it from. And also just one shelf in the main area, it would be nice to have a little more shelves or hooks. There is a faucet to clean your feet at the steps which is great, but I would loved a little broom to clean excess sand I tracked back.
Norma and the other staff are really nice and welcoming. The huts are nice. Outside, there is even a place for a quick workout. They take really good care of the outside area, the plants and trees look really nice. The vibe is just great. And Norma helped me with the booking of a Tour and also my transportation.

Honestly loved everything, we were served excellent breakfast in the morning. The beds are very nice and the hut is cozy. The bathroom was really nice, and the hammock outside was a nice edition. The staff in itself was just the nicest people, we also stayed at the CXJ traveller's inn which is just next door and they helped us coordinate so we could leave our luggage and get help in general to get around. The place is a bit outside of port barton, but it just takes you 15 min to walk down to the beach and being a bit away also helps relaxing after a long day. Hope to come back!

PolandI really do not understand why people complain about the location, İ mean - don't you guys check it before booking? A 15-min walk to the center being a problem, wow... And there's literally the word "Hill" in the name of the resort, so why are people surprised it's actually located on a hill? LOL. Tranquility of this place is amazing. Nature, animals, all basic facilities and wonderful wonderful staff that took care of me when I felt ill - that's what you'll find. The island hopping tour is worth booking with the resort - it's the best we've been to in the Philippines.

PhilippinesI did not know the property had dogs when booking. I have dog-phobia but I managed to overcome this as their dogs tend not to attack guests. And I honestly can say the same about the brood of stray dogs at Port Barton and indeed Palawan. So one way or another I had to make peace with this. And I did.
Great lush location and friendly hosts: I wish I stayed longer!

NetherlandsBit of a basic and small breakfast. It's still a hut so do expect some bugs, eventhough there were musquito nets. Also the wooden floor did feel dusty and there was only cold water to shower with. Furthermore there are a lot of noisy roosters around this area. The location is a bit further from town, but easy tricycle arrangement or even walkable.
Really cute little jungle hut with sitting area just in front (our hut had a view on the forest), which gave us the feeling of a little adventure. Comfortable bed. Super friendly personnel and availability for motorbike rental, bout tour or van bookings here. Definitely enjoyed our stay a lot!
