How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Verified reviewThe location is complicated, and the road is rough on the way, making it a hassle since guests need to visit the tourism office to get clearance before check-in. The area has very shallow water and mangroves, and as warned by the lifeguard, some parts are dangerous to enter. It's not suitable for beach swimming; they only have a swimming pool, although the facility is not clean at all. The room has a dog smell, and the staff is not helpful at all. I wouldn't recommend it, especially for foreigners, as their advertisement is quite misleading.

Swimming time in the pool and the beach is quite limited. It would be much appreciated if swimming time would be extended. Can do improvement and development in the beach. The bottom is muddy and slimy. There is broken glass in the shore.

Verified reviewThe 2 bedroom casita was spacious for a family of 4, with 2 teenagers and a dog. We love the many activities one can do in the resort - swim at the beach and pools, walk the trail, see the many animals in the area.
The food was not that great, as well as the slow service. Having a buffet service would have helped the waiting time for the food. The condition of the Cala trail could be as the wooden path is already run down. This is very unique to the resort so I hope management addresses this concern.

The road going to the resort was quite bumpy and we felt like we got lost.

Verified reviewVilla is spacious, clean and modern. Dinner on the beach is nice. Easy to go out snorkelling, good water sport activities.
Beach is small and difficult to go for a longer walk, unlike other resorts at Laiya. Breaksfast is included, but not one main course choice. Coffee is charged. At that price, a proper breakfast buffet should be provided. Food is average.

Verified reviewWe found paradise after driving 130kms. The place was serene and lovely. Perfect getaway to de-stress and just connect with nature and spend time with your love ones. We loved the balsa ride and snorkeling. The kayaking was fun too. The staff are friendly.

Verified reviewThe breakfast was good, with just enough choices. My son who is a bit picky got what he wanted- chicken and ice cream. I really appreciate the service of the staff because they are quick to respond and pleasant. The room is clean and tidy. I also like the trail.
It's just unfortunate that it rained and we did not get to try the balsa and other water sports. Now there's a reason to come back.

That it was not mentioned in your or any of their platforms that they had a renovation and because of that their loft villas is only 2 instead of 4 which means those who are reserving for two bedrooms might get a bungalow instead. We got a bungalow instead of the loft.
