The location was absolutely breathtaking, and the owner and staff were warm, personable, and genuinely friendly. I loved that the place is committed to being eco-conscious, actively working to minimize its carbon footprint. They even took the time to clean up particles washed ashore from passing ships to help protect the island. The water was crystal-clear—so pristine it felt like swimming in a pool. Truly an amazing experience!

One area the venue could improve on is helping guests arrange transportation from Puerto Princesa Airport. We understood it was a 6-hour trip and didn’t expect it to be cheap, especially since they work with outside transportation companies. That part isn’t the issue—what would really help is offering guests more affordable options up front. When we arrived, we paid 9,000 pesos (over $200 USD) for a private van to take us from PP airport to the venue, which was nearly the cost of our flight from Manila. On the way back, after asking about alternatives, we were able to take a shared van for only about a third of that price. If we had known about this option beforehand, it would have greatly reduced our travel expenses.

    Property response:

Dear Peter, First and foremost, thank you for choosing to stay at our humble sanctuary. We’re delighted to know that you enjoyed your experience with us — from the service of our team to the beauty of the surroundings — and that you appreciate what we stand for at Eco Sanctuaries. We’re also truly grateful that you took the time to leave us this review. After reviewing the communication history, it appears our team who responded at that time thought that the inquiry was regarding a private car from Puerto Princesa and so the rate for that was given. There is a public shuttle van alternative, which some of our guests opt for when presented with the option. We sincerely apologize for this miscommunication— rest assured we will be discussing this internally to ensure clearer information is provided in the future. We hope to welcome you back again one day, and we wish you all the very best. Thank you once more for your kind words and for supporting Eco Sanctuaries.

On the bright side, there is no noise pollution whatsoever and one can fall asleep and wake up to the sound of the ocean.

To be fair, I was there at the end of the season, so things may be different in the high season. The place was deserted (no other guests) and had a slightly run-down feel to it. The sand flies were relentless and the heat in the rather dark hut unbearable, also the mosquito nets had holes in them. Food was too greasy. The staff was friendly but a bit clueless regarding possible activities or helping in organizing trips.

    Property response:

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re glad you appreciated the tranquility of our location and the soothing sound of the ocean — something many of our guests deeply value during their stay. We’re sorry to hear you didn’t feel the experience matched the value. Being in a prime beachfront location with only 3 lodges and more privacy than commercial places with many rooms, we have high operational costs. We also made significant investments to be fully solar-powered (simultaneously avoiding regular brownouts in the island), have a farm-to-table restaurant and grow our produce, have deep wells with freshwater sources regularly treated, pay higher wages than average for our local staff. We understand you chose to leave after one night, as you preferred to be in a livelier setting but we would have wanted to host you longer to also share with you more of our offerings. Unfortunately, your visit coincided with the tail end of the high season, and as mentioned prior to your arrival, our location is more secluded so there are less people. We understand, however, that this may have affected the overall energy and ambiance for your visit. Our on-site maintenance team works daily to keep the grounds well cared for, while we continuously refurbish our interiors and exteriors especially being in a seaside location. Should there be specific concerns during a guest’s stay, we always appreciate being informed so we can address them right away. In terms of tours, we were informed you were looking for island hopping and diving trips with direct pickup from our location. Unfortunately, these typically depart from the town proper, which is why our staff may not have been able to provide other options at that time. We remain committed to growing and improving, and truly appreciate guest feedback as it helps guide that ongoing journey. Rest assured your other feedback have been noted and have been processed with the team for improvement. For anything else you want to share with us, we are here to listen. Thank you so much, Janja! We wish you all the best.

Very beautiful location, in a quiet part in the middle of Nacpan Beach, really nice and spotlessly clean huts, fantastic cuisine in the restaurant and also super nice staff. They also 100% live sustainability in this lodge and are fully integrated with the local community.

Read the description well, there is no air conditioning but they provide two fans per bungalow which works fine.

The food was amazing, with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. There is a possibility to do Joga too. Nacpan Beach is a truly peaceful and picturesque destination, and the location of the hotel is fantastic. Our beach-front room was lovely, and the soothing sound of the waves added to the tranquil atmosphere—it truly felt like paradise.

The biggest letdown was the limited menu at the hotel’s restaurant. More than half of the items on the menu were unavailable, which was particularly frustrating after a day out on a boat trip. After such an adventure, you’d expect to enjoy a nice meal without having to leave the beach area, but unfortunately, we ended up eating tuna for three days in a row because there were no alternatives, and it was a shame not having calamari and prawns which were on the menu not available for four days on a beach destination. The water pressure in the shower was extremely low, making it difficult to have a proper shower. On top of that, there was no hot water in the room, which added to the discomfort. Overall, while the location and scenery are stunning, the lack of limited amenities left a lot to be desired. I hope the hotel can improve its restaurant options and fix the issues with water pressure to make this stay more comfortable. .

    Property response:

Hi Evrim, First and foremost thank you once again for choosing to stay with us. We strive to maintain a peaceful environment for both guests and nature, and we’re glad to hear about your comments. We apologize for the inconvenience that was caused by seafood shortage during your visit. We were disappointed just the same and we wish it were not the case, but during those days specifically, we had a difficult time with getting fresh seafood alternatives. We do not stock up on seafood for long periods to ensure excellent quality and nutrient retention. We understand your concern and trust that this is also not acceptable to us, but we make do with our best options and we will always try to offer the best for our guests. For other notes you have shared with us, trust that we are always looking out to improve and ensure guest satisfaction, and we thank you for sharing the valuable feedback. Hopefully in the future, we have more capacity to upgrade our solar systems so we can provide hot showers. At the moment, as we provide in our info, this is just not available but we look forward to continuously improving our amenities. Thank you once again, we wish you all the very best, and it was a pleasure to serve and host you!

You pay for the location which is absolutely gorgeous, very isolated, and really unique - something that in other parts of the world could cost much more. That being said, there is no AC, no hot water which was OK for us. The staff (only interacted with a young very friendly guy) was super friendly, trying to make our stay even better and offering complementary massage.

All items on the food menu are subject to 12% tax and 10% additional service fee which then comes as a surprise when you have to pay the bill seeing almost 25% higher price - yes, its was indicated in the menu but still found it very unnecessary and have not seen this in any other restaurant/hotel in Philippines.

The location is amazing in the best spot in Nacpan beach, it does come with the challenges though as you have to walk a bit to get there. It definitely pays off though.

Breakfast options wasn’t great and the fact that the tea and coffee facilities were only provided for the first day.

This Eco conscious Resort on Nacpan beach exceeded our expectations. The resort was extremely quiet, has friendly helpful staff, a great health conscious restaurant and is situated on the nicest beach we visited during our month long visit to the Philippines. The bamboo cottage helped us feel like we were communing with nature. Great place to hide away from the busyness of El Nido.

There were no yoga activities available during our stay.

Nestled in a quiet, secluded location, this eco-friendly retreat offers a truly relaxing atmosphere. The rooms are beautifully designed with thoughtful details, ensuring comfort and convenience—mosquito nets, a fan, a private bathroom, a wardrobe, and tea/coffee-making facilities are all provided. Everything is spotless and well-maintained.

Some other guests mentioned having issues with sand flies, though we personally didn’t experience any problems. However, it’s a good idea to bring mosquito repellent to be prepared.

Beautiful location! The beach is gorgeous. The lodge is secluded and tranquil. Great staff, service and food. Away from the business of other resorts on the beach, and yet close enough if you wanted to explore other places.

Polyester bed sheets and pillowcases. Super uncomfortable for the body, especially in the heat. I suggested the management invested in the 100% cotton sheets for the comfort of future customers.

Outstanding location, on the quieter side of one of the most beautiful beaches, anywhere probably. Oh, and the food was top notch too. Into yoga? They have classes every day. If I’m around this area again, would return without hesitation.

It’s a work in progress, a newer business, so I think it will improve over time as they iron out some things. One thing they won’t be able to though, is the sand fly situation. If you’re prone to being bitten, avoid being out or uncovered at dusk and dawn. Also, make use of the mosquito nets and you’ll be good while sleeping. Don’t use the nets, and prepare to get chewed. With a little thought and avoidance, you can really enjoy this place, a true gem!

We wanted a peaceful escape from the crowds, and Eco Sanctuaries El Nido did not disappoint. Staying here was incredibly relaxing and serene—exactly what we were looking for. One of the most memorable moments was our engagement dinner on the beach. The view was breathtaking, with the sky painted in shades of purple, blue, red, and orange. To make the night even more special, they surprised us with a complimentary bottle of red wine—such a thoughtful gesture that we truly appreciated! Breakfast was included in our room rate and served à la carte. The food was delicious, and enjoying it with a sea view made the experience even better. And of course, the sunset views and starry nights at Nacpan Beach were simply unforgettable. We could never get tired of watching such beauty. Absolutely amazing! Highly recommended for those looking for a peaceful and magical retreat.

The location was fabulous. The resort is lovely and quiet, on the calmer side of the beach. True paradise. Stuff is amazing and welcoming, breakfast is great. Would love to come back!

We were aware of amenities at the resort, still no air-conditioning made nights uncomfortable, and sand flies were really going for us.

If you like you are looking for something unique and to be truly immersed in nature, you MUST stay here. Five reasons why: 1. Great location, Nacpan Beach is like a postcard and the eco Sanctuaries is located on the most private part with a gorgeous natural setting, but within a walking distance from other bars and restaurants 2. Tasty food, the restaurant offers by far the best food on the beach. We highly recommend the five course meal on the beach, incredible Filipino fusion dishes under the setting sun 3. Relaxing yoga, we had a great teacher (Lisa!). Yoga was great way to start the day and added to the zen feeling at the sanctuary 4. Unique lodge, the lodge is lovely, comfy bed (with good quality bedding) in a nice garden (there is no aircon, good for the environment!, but there is a fan and enough airflow) 5. Fantastic staff, superfriendly and personal service, they even remembered our preference! Even after our stay there were there to help us recover an item we left behind, they went above and beyond for us! 10 out of 10, we were sad to leave and would definitely come back

    The location

ECO SANCTUARIES NACPAN Failures under the guise of Eco. Too far from town for electricity perhaps, so use solar power. We were aware this would mean no air conditioning, no fridge in the room, no hot water shower. Ok but it's over $180 US a night, the food but especially the service must be excellent to justify rustic accommodation at this price. Well unfortunately not. The breakfast meal choice is good and tasty. But no juices one breakfast, no alternative shakes ? Just luke warm water not cold. A couple of beers in the afternoon? No, they're all warm just put in the fridge, there's only room for 8. Ok, I'll wait, when they're cold I'll be offered them surely? No, it never happened. I noticed 6 non hotel guests in for lunch an hour or so later enjoying cold beers though. And outsiders who aren't paying $180 a night are a regular feature, they can just arrive, split one meal and one beer between 3 people and occupy the nice quiet sunbeds for the day  ???? So just get a cheap $50 room down the beach, buy one beer and use the facility. Paying for a supposed exclusive eco sanctuary it isn't, anyone shares it with you. Eco probably accounts for no insect treatment in the rooms or the grounds. We were bitten more extensively in one night than we've ever been by nikniks, ie sandflies. We travel extensively, Africa, Central America, Asia, always well prepared with Deet.  But they knew they had sandflies which aren't put off by Deet, and had the appropriate repellent to hand, they just didn't tell us. When we showed them 30 ugly bites each it was "oh sorry, here's repellent, 800pesos". We have to endure days of ugly red marks itching for £12 !!! Ruin a vacation. At this price knowing you have a problem it should be provided for free. And incidentally it's 600 pesos in the village so they even profiteer on your discomfort, or village had 400 pesos for a smaller one they should provide for free. Then departure.

    Property response:

Dear Kevin, First and foremost we thank you for staying with us. We are deeply saddened to hear about this given that our guests utmost happiness and comfort is of top priority to us, and to hear such an experience from a guest is rare for us and something we take very seriously. We take your concerns seriously and are actively reviewing the issues you raised. We were surprised to get this feedback because the responses you left on our feedback forms said 'Everything is fine' and showed Excellent remarks. We apologize if there were issues that we missed addressing during your stay and wish they had been brought to our attention earlier so we could have resolved them promptly. Regarding your concern on not having cold beer and juice on some instance, we are investigating why this occurred as it should not have been the case. Your feedback about outsider guests using sun loungers is also noted. Our policy reserves loungers for checked-in guests, and only unoccupied ones are available to visitors. We will review how we can better enforce this policy. On the matter of sandflies, we recognize the inconvenience caused and had hoped this experience did not transpire. Majority of guests who have stayed here have not had any bites but some people are more sensitive which is why this was included in the confirmation message upon booking, and that you can avail from us repellant sprays focused on sandflies if you are highly sensitive. We reiterate the message included in the automated message by booking.com: 'We have a mountain behind us and are subject to nature’s elements. You may not see them as they avoid humans, but there may be a harmless endemic gecko which you can hear sometimes at night, or sandflies by the beach depending on the season which is common in some of El Nido’s beaches such as Nacpan. They are harmless. If you are sensitive to them, you can bring insect repellant for protection and we also sell, and our accommodations are screened and protected, but if you are highly sensitive this may not be the best place for you. We have had a lot of children and adults stay, and have been unharmed by them, but just bear in mind that we are in a natural setting.' For those very few people who had bites from sandflies our immediate protocol is to provide with medicine and cream, and the repellant spray focused on sandflies, which we of course give for free, at no charge. We checked in on the team if the protocol was followed and our inventory of stocks, and we were able to confirm that one whole bottle of sandfly spray was given to you of repellant spray for free and not charged. We are also currently reviewing how we can integrate these communications upon briefing and how to remind guests that first aid is always readily available at the Front Office. Your feedback is of utmost importance to us, and we will make sure it is integrated into our operations. We wish you all the very best, Kevin, we thank you for sharing your feedback and rest assured we are listening.
