How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewI throughly enjoyed my stay at Mina Grande. Small, basic but comfortable room. I upgraded to one of the two bungalows with a sea view for a small extra charge. Fantastic view and definitely worth the extra. Walking distance to restaurants and a short tricycle ride into El Nido town. A lot quieter than El Nido town.
Breakfast very simple but did the job.
thank very much Gareth, it is our pleasure to serve you.

Verified reviewLocation - literally next to the beach, quiet at night - no noise at all, morning breakfast was nice too and extremely nice welcoming host and staff. I would suggest may be to switch the breakfast from western to something local - we are in Ph, let us experience the local vibe with local breakfast :D haha But no, thank you for the hospitality!
No closet in the room, nowhere to put your clothes. Had my luggage full of clothes unpacked throughout my entire stay because it was nowhere to put them. There was only one plastic chair in the room and the small table which was way too small. Would be nice to have 2nd chair if the room is for a couple of people. Also the towels - I wouldn't mind having a hotel type towels. I was a bit skeptical about using the provided ones cause felt like they've been quite worn out, however smelled fresh and clean. May need to also consider changing the room walls color from green to something different lighter neutral imho.
Thank you, Alex, it is our pleasure to serve you. Thank you for the reviews, now we are almost done with the closet you mentioned, and of course, we will find a better, lighter wall paint color to look like a spacious space.

Verified reviewThe staff were super welcoming and all round amazing! My boyfriend and I came down with some serious food poisoning(tour lunch), and staff ensured we were comfortable, arranged for us to get to a doctor, and even visited us with bananas to check that we were okay! As for the room, there was all you could ask for - comfy bed, working air con + fan, and a hot shower The location was perfect, very close to the dock for tours. Just a short walk along the beach and you’ll come across plenty of lovely restaurants. A quick tuktuk away from El Nido town for 100 PHP. I would definitely recommend Mina Grande and stay again :) Thank you!!
Only complaint would be the noise of the air con
thank you very much it is our pleasure to serve you. hope to see you again. take care both of you.

Verified reviewFrom our first meeting here at our stay at Mina Grande, El, Nido , the man at reception was very unhelpful and not very friendly at all. He has no customer service skills and very poor manners. Each request was dismissed without actually trying to help out. First was a request of extra towels, 5 person room provided 2 towels, he insisted there were 4, he asked I double check and when I came back confirming there were in fact only 2, he said he’ll check before he gave the towels. When he confirmed with his staff he provided 2 towels with no apologies but a sour face. On our third day, I requested an extra bed sheet he was again very dismissive, he wanted to charge as there’s already one provided, when I clearly said the sheets were too small for 2 people that’s nearly 6 foot to share. He said you’re the only one that has ever complained. He said the cost for an extra sheet was 50 pesos. It would have been nice if he just explained and gave a solution to the request instead of being cranky and rude, it was almost he took offence to every request. The rest of the staff there was pleasant enough. It was really the main guy that was at the front desk. All in all the place wasn’t worth the stay and the area was not the best. The so called beach front wasn’t really a nice beach to swim at. The water was really yellow and you had to run the tap for at least 30 minutes everyday and the water had a rusty smell. Couple of blackouts, took 30 minutes for generator to kick in.
Sorry to hear that; take note that you are one in the hundreds of our guests to complain. Perhaps you are an arrogant person you looking us like slave.

Verified reviewGreat stay right on the beach! Location is perfect. Room has everything you need for a short stay in El Nido. Aircon and fan worked well. Scooter hire was handy. Also enjoyed breakfast! (Option for Filipino breakfast with rice or an egg toastie)
Bathroom is basic but good enough.

Verified reviewAlthough i got booking.com and the hotel e mail confirmation to my reservation, when i arrived the guy in the hotel claimed to have no reservation and addressed me to a property near the hotel that was way below the level i booked at the same high price i paid for the beach front units, with very poor breakfast and no access to the beach as the original hotel cottage had. He didn't want to provide the obvious gap in unit value. The next day i had to leave and waste my vacation time, roaming around with my luggage , looking for other available hotel in this busy location .

Verified reviewBeachfront location. Owner/manager was very helpful, booked our trip and shared van for us. 5min walk to all the tour operators for island hopping in the morning
Smell in the bathroom. El Nido is overall very expensive, taking this into consideration, the room was very good.
