A piece of paradise in Puerto Galera

    1. The swimming pool is small and is hidden between the buildings. 2. We have stayed there only for 3 nights. It was too short

The resort is clean, inviting, the view of the sea from the room is beautiful and relaxing, the hotel staff is very cooperative and helpful, the diving club runs like a well-oiled machine, even though it is crowded with divers and the food in the restaurant is excellent. We had a great time and will definitely go back there again

    A nice beach for snorkelling

    1. The Room We booked for a twin room with the view of the swimming pool but we were initially given another room which had no view at all. After we requested to change, they promptly gave us back the room with the view. The room has air conditioner but it was too cold even I adjusted the mode to fan or dry only. The so-called 'blanket' that they provided was just a bed sheet. I requested for another bed sheet and also used the bath towel to keep myself warm. I wish the window could have been opened. The drainage in the bathroom was blocked, but they fixed it very quickly after reported. 2. Island hopping tours We joined island hopping tours via Scandi. The company who organized the tour was flexible as it allowed us to start any time between 9am or 10 am; to have lunch or without. They took us to Heart beach, Haligi beach, Long beach, coral garden and the underwater cave. When we climbed the steep rock and saw the entrance of the cave, we decided not to go down further. The rock was very slippery under the water and this activity was certainly not suitable for us. The sea was very rough when we reached the spot for coral garden. We could hardly swim, so the small boat pull us along when we tried to see the coral reef with our snorkelling gear. But we had communication problem with the boatman as he only speaks very little English. Unfortunately, we did not enjoy our snorkelling experience through this tour.

    1. The beach outside Scandi divers It seems that many guests come here for diving, but we stayed here for the purpose of snorkelling. As we are not good swimmers, we could only swim at swallow water. My friend and I spent a morning snorkelling at the beach just outside the Scandi. we were happy to see sea urchins, and some coral reefs, though the colors of coral reefs is not the best that I saw before. We could have dropped the island hoping tour and spent more time just snorkelling there. 2. Helpful staff , everything is clearly communicated. 3. Good food at the restaurant though the price is a bit higher than others in the area. 4. They gave us a better exchange rate when paid our room with US dollars as we run out of peso. But when we asked for direct currency exchange service, then the rate was not good. However, they advised us to change our money at the town of Sabang Beach for a better rate.

Although only a 15-20 minute walk to town, it can feel a bit isolated.... but that can be a good thing.

Staff and the dive crew were exceptional. It seemed like all staff knew my name by the first day. The kitchen does a good job with a large and varied menu. It's a fun place to stay with terrific diving.

Dive trips to Verde Island or boat transfers to Abra seem to be overpriced.

Good In-House dive shop with high quality equipment. Very friendly and attentive staff, helpful reception. Great restaurant with good food and views. Located at most attractive part of Sabang Beach.

Our daughter’s sun cream made a pale yellow stain on her white towel, and we were asked to pay for a new towel, which surprised us.

A small guesthouse right on the water of a quiet bay, with an annex further round the waterfront including some small bungalow/huts where we stayed. The room was small, with nowhere really to unpack, but it was clean and comfortable and had a small verandah right on the beach. The staff was friendly and helpful. The Dive Centre is excellent. The staff all seemed to get on really well with each other which created really good atmosphere. They were also (to my inexperienced eye) professional and safe. Underwater they were brilliant at spotting and pointing out small and tiny reef creatures, which were amazing and fascinating (I am now really into nudibranchs). There are water coolers in the main public areas so we could reuse our water bottles (they also provide each guest with a refillable metal water bottle). The restaurant staff were given the evening of Christmas Day off (we were encouraged to eat early!) - a thoughtful touch which exemplifies the management style. We really enjoyed our stay here.
