First time in Davao...Arrived midnight in SOGO Davao. The Wifi was terrible. Had to be in the lobby to make calls and bookings. Transferred rooms but did not really improve the situation. Had to stay at the lobby for most of the stay due to the poor signal. Negotiated a partial refund because the property did not reflect what was shown in the pictures, and the initial quarters provided were cramped and I attempted to inspect the ac unit for the smell when the unattached curtain rod fell and slapped my face. Did i mention the non-existent wifi when you close the door??. I had to stand near the door to receive a signal. It's not really made for business or critical communication over the internet. After holding and communicating with booking.com approximately 1 hour, the front desk was unresponsive to the agent over the speaker phone. Was advised to wait until morning, forcing me to use the facility. At which point I was completely exhausted. Went up the room and slept 4am. 830am met with another assist manager. After a brief conversation, I was offered food, but I refused since who knows where that comes from. They may also use that gesture against me.. Afterward, the actual manager came out of hiding and explained that he could not refund me, only partial refund or hotel credit. I explained that booking.com strongly suggested I get a complete refund for the initial denial of service and the entire drama and painful ordeal I went through. He asked me what I did for a living and was happy to explain and network with him to get along. But I immediately felt his dread as he walked away in a hurry. Never coming back here, not even for a hot quickies they are apparently known for.
