Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandThe hotel is located in a quite place, overlooking the ocean and just few minutes walk from the port. The rooms are spacious and with balcony. There is the refrigerator and the safe. The airconditioning works perfectly and it is silent. The staff is very friendly! Great breakfast!

United StatesThere were lots of stairs so we got our workout.
Private beach with good snorkeling close to the dive shops we dove with. AC was essential because it was way to hot out. On-site massage and spa.

ThailandNone of these presented problems for us, but FYI: (1) Rooms have wooden floors and they are creaky! One person just walking in the room can wake up another person sleeping. Also people on the first floor in 2-floor bungalows can hear people walking on the second floor. (2) Air conditioner blows directly on to the bed, so it's often cold when turned on and hot when turned off. I dealt with this by almost closing the vent manually so that air goes directly down. (3) Strange policy: you need to show the credit card used to book the hotel, like they try to combat fraud. This is a thing some airlines (rarely) do, but I've never seen this in a hotel. The card I used was a virtual card so it doesn't exist in physical form, but they accepted seeing the card in my bank application. (4) Reception has a sign "water refill" but there is no water refill there actually, so if 1 liter of free drinking water per day is not enough you'll need to buy bottles of water from mini-bar at 80 PHP per bottle (inflated price obviously). (5) Hotel's partner restaurant used for breakfasts and dinners, called Amihana, is let's say below average, food is not very tasty. (6) If you (as most people) come there for diving, one important thing to consider is the distance from your hotel to the dive shop. You will need to walk to and from your chosen dive shop every day, often on sand (I don't think most dive shops offer pick ups), often early in the morning. This hotel is in one corner of the island, so distance to dive shops on the other side might be too large to be comfortable, make sure you check the distance when you make plans.
(1) Perfect location: very quiet, on the other side of a hill so sounds from beach bars don't reach the rooms. It's especially apparent when you walk from the room to the beach in the evening: after you cross the summit you start hearing music from beach bars / restaurants, ones you didn't hear close to the room. (2) Quiet air conditioner: not very strong but sufficient for the room. (3) Decent-sized (not a small minibar type) and quiet (!) fridge, we for example bought fruits and stored them in it. (4) Basically nothing disturbs your sleep when in the room (except possibly your partner? ;-). (5) The real hidden gem is hotel's private beach, snorkeling on it you can see plenty of baby reef sharks!!! I saw maybe about 12 at the same time. Pro tip: don't swim too fast or too much, actually move your hands and feet as little as possible, otherwise you'll scare the sharks. Just get to the right place (a bit further out from the shore, near the rope) and wait a bit. Sharks will come. And don't swim in the area to the right of the entrance limited by rope, it's an area reserved only for the sharks. Instead, hold on to the rope so that you don't need to move and don't scare sharks away. (6) Nearby hotel Blanco Beach Resort has a very good restaurant next to the Tepanee's private beach, and this restaurant serves very tasty food and fresh juices. (7) Soft, comfortable beds (memory foam but it's fine). (8) Nice furnuture, room had a work table. (9) Good WiFi. (10) Hotel is built on a hill so you can save up on gym - just walking to / from your bungalow will burn enough calories ;-) (11) Views from this hill and the partner restaurant are breath-taking.

NetherlandsI had an awesome week in my little bungalow. The private beach to go snorkeling is perfect, and staff really take care of it. At night it is quiet and the room is spacious and airco works well. The bathroom is a good size, and the shower is great. The matras is more on the older side, but still I slept really well. There is instant coffee in the room, and the mini fridge is filled with drinks. The breakfast buffet is basic, but it has everything you would want. In general, food on the island anywhere ranges from 'meeeeeeh' to 'urgh', so I enjoyed breakfast even more. There are a lot of steps to walk up and down, which might be a challenge for some. All in all I very much enjoyed my stay! Would recommend and I would come back!

United StatesI booked dives at a dive shop and upon arrival found out it was pretty far of a walk through sand with my big camera system. It was no problem for the diveshop to send a small boat and pick me up and drop me off at the beach next to hotel daily.
Maybe the best location on the whole island. Right next to the baby sharks and the best beach I found on malapascua. Peaceful, quiet, excellent breakfast, conveniently located to everything. There are a lot of long/small stairs to walk up and down around this whole place (cause its built on the side of a hill). Didnt really bother me, but could maybe see it bothering some, so you should be ok with that.

Australiaquiet room with a pleasant garden view where we could relax and chat quietly. Beach area had comfortable recliners with drinks service 20m away at most. My partner loved the friendly cats and dogs. Restaurant was good with possibly the best views in town. We enjoyed talking with the owners. For me, it was the perfect jump off point for my thresher shark dives.

United Arab EmiratesMaybe more options at breakfast.
Best hotel in the Philippines! This was my fourth stay at Tepanee Beach Resort. The Italian owners are great, so welcoming and friendly. I enjoyed my chats with Andrea each day. Their marine reserve is absolutely amazing. My son and I went snorkelling with the black tip reef sharks several times a day - this was an absolute highlight. They have a small gym on site which functions quite well and the view from the bungalows are stunning. Can't wait to come back again.

Easily the best hotel on the island and so glad we were here for Christmas. The highlight was the marine nature reserve - snorkeling and seeing all the different fish and black tips was exciting and enjoyable. Andrea is a fabulous host, taking the time to get to know guests and help in anyway he can. All other staff were also friendly and accommodating. Our room was spacious and clean, lovely ocean view from the bed which was lovely each morning.
