How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.

There was no wifi option, hostel photos on booking.com look different from reality, the worst hostel ever, with weird drunk and smoking people around. Toilet is not working, needed to look on other floor.
The description of our facility clearly states that there is no free Internet access in our Hostel. Please read the description carefully. You ordered the cheapest room, without a bathroom, and you expected the comfort of a three-star hotel. Unfortunately, for such a low price we guarantee a basic standard typical of a Hostel, we hope you know what the difference is? Our standard is accurately reflected in the photos, the bedding pattern is currently different. If the toilet on the common floor didn't work, you had to come to the reception and report the problem - we would definitely help. Opinions written after departure, without verification by the reception whether you wrote the truth, are worthless. We don't care who smokes and drinks in the area. We are not responsible for adults staying near the hostel whom you had the opportunity to meet. Over 300 guests have given positive feedback, we cannot satisfy everyone. Best regards.

Non-concordance of price/value. For 30-35 euros per person usually u get a comfortable room with equipment like a fridge, fan, sometimes tv, a kettle and blackout curtains. There was not a single rack to hang the clothes when you come inside the room. The room had two single old beds with old and broken mattresses, two chairs, the wardrobe, which attempted to fall on you each time you open it 😃and an old table with scratches and wood layers broke open. The women bathroom was in an awful condition: old taps, shower zones, absence of soap for hands, and again no racks to hang your towel... The men's one was neater, though. It had some renovations and care... But the pictures on the site are probably made from some " luxury rooms". And of course, the location. It took us on average 25-30 minutes to get to the city centre of Bytom. If you need to get to Katowice for instance, that'll take you around 1 hr. To get to Chorzow is around 45 minutes. I was there only once to visit a concert of a famous group. And it seems this facility used this event to make as much money as possible, providing the rooms which price is max 10-15 eu per night per person.
Very unfair rating. Nothing deserves a higher rating? location also? Too little parking? There are many aspects to be considered a PLUS, but unfortunately it's easier to press 1 on the keyboard when you get home than to say it to our face. You could go to reception, report problems if there were any, how could we help without knowing something was wrong? Really NOTHING deserved a higher rating of the facility? We'll give you a hint - you had a low price for your stay compared to the facilities in the area during the event, a huge monitored parking lot around the facility, 24-hour security, reception service, a restaurant next door, etc. The low fee in our HOSTEL compensates for the inconvenience, since you were looking for comfort at such a low price, then why did you choose HOSTEL? Next time you can use the hotel, maybe it will meet your high expectations, unfortunately at a much higher price per person. You will be able to use the SPA, elevator, the room will have a TV and soft carpet. Such non-substantive opinions written in a few words should be verified by the booking portal and removed because they really spoil the opinion of the object that does not deserve it in the face of the opinions of over 300 satisfied customers. Thank you for appreciating the staff. Rooms can always be viewed before renting. we have nothing to hide. During the festival, we were the cheapest facility in the area, so what use are we talking about? Our bathrooms are neat and clean, and we are not responsible for access to neighboring cities. If you were looking for almost free accommodation during the concert, I would like to inform you that it would not work. This opinion is a joke.

The room smelled bad. 60+ euros for a room which has nothing, not even a bathtroom is very expensive, in fact the bathtroom wasn't nice either. However we were on a long trip and really needed a place to stay.

Thank you for your feedback. Sir - you have paid the right rate for the Hostel - it is not a hotel, the conditions in both buildings are completely different. There is no cheaper accommodation in the area. The truth is that you came here to visit your girlfriend and you were very happy when you checked into our hostel. The bathrooms are cleaned twice a day, so that there is order, guests also have to take care of it. If you want to rent a large room and have a comfortable bed with all the amenities, next time choose a five star hotel. Best regards.
