The only detractor was that it was on old building with plumbing issues; we had to put our TP in the trash can after use

The beds. They were not great. The first one needed a support of some kind. When we laid on the bed we folded in to the middle. Thankfully there was an extra bed in the room. My husband moved to the twin bed in the middle of the night ,but said it was a pretty flat mattress.. The staff was great and moved us to another room as maintenance doesn't work on the weekend....That bed was better...but not great. It had support but the mattress was meh. The cleanliness of the shower was not great..and when I first pulled down the sheets there were 2 long black hairs on the bed.I have mid length blonde hair...it was so late at night when we got there...I just went to bed.

We loved the staff. They were awesome. The location was perfect. I loved the free bar. I didn't drink any alcohol there so I can speak to the mixed drinks...but free is always a good perk!

Staff were never hostile/rude, but I wish they were slightly warmer and friendlier.

Everyone we encountered at the hotel was kind, courteous and extremely professional. Great value for the money. We enjoyed San Juan and will be back. I would not hesitate to stay at the El Colonial again.

I wouldn’t recommend booking an interior room. They don’t have windows and it feels like you’re in a dungeon. Also, it’s obvious that they water down the hard liquor.

The hotel is reasonably priced, clean, and centrally located. It was surprisingly very quiet.

Just know what to expect. Older building and lots of stairs. No complaints here

The building is beautiful and in great condition. The rooms are sufficient with high ceilings and strong AC. Beds are comfortable. The open bar in the lobby is the central meeting point.

This is suuuper minor, but it would be helpful to have a vanity or small shelf in the bathroom.

The location of this hotel is perfect, and the hotel itself was quiet, cool, and calm, and seemed well managed. We don't drink a lot of alcohol, but we enjoyed the free cold bottled waters, juice, and coffee! The staff were all very helpful and kind.

The original room I was assigned felt pretty musty so I had to move, would recommend staying in a room with windows

Our room was right above a restaurant hood, we would get sniffs of grease and burnt oil constantly and the room smelled like because the windows don’t seal all the way.

Going Up 3 floors with the luggage can be tricky. There is no place to park if you have a rented car.

Staff is very friendly. The house is a nice colonial style building. It is idealy located in Old San Juan. The open bar is great !

I have no complaints.

The hotel is a beautiful old colonial building in an excellent location in Old San Juan. The staff was friendly and helpful. The moment I arrived they sat me down with a complimentary beverage while they checked me in and took my luggage up to my room for me. Our room was clean and comfortable with a great view. The rooftop is a wonderful place to hang out, take in the amazing view, and continue to enjoy the complimentary alcoholic beverages of your choice.
