How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewLocation was excellent and sea views amazing. A big and clean apartment. Hotel staff were very accommodating and helpful.
Thin stairs were an issue with heavy cases to top floor but hotel staff helped. The water went off so the staff let us shower outside by the hotel pool! They also provided us with water until it came back on mid next morning.

the room was dirty, the place was dingy, I understand that the price was low due to the low standard but the minimum should have been met, i.e. cleanliness. There were cockroaches in the bathroom, the shower drain stank of urine, the shower faucet was a mystery... after many attempts, I finally managed to set the shower faucets so that I could wash myself. the shower was not functional, water leaked everywhere. cracked baseboards, rusty stove, it really looked terrible. At one point, the power went out, after trying to talk to the host I heard that we should wait. it was hot, there was no air conditioning and fresh air, the windows were boarded up, you couldn't open them. The room was very poorly marked, it was hard to find your way to the room. Check-in in another place 10 minutes on foot from the place of accommodation. the only good thing I can say is the location. overall, I don't recommend

Verified reviewLocation was amazing. Right next toon fort, close to downtown of Old Town SJ, beautiful bay views, easy to navigate from.
Bathroom was tiny, shower grout was disgusting and looked dirty, if you are taller than 5’3” your knees will be up against the wall while using the toilet. Bedroom floor felt a little dirty, only blanket was a top sheet, and two tiny towels for the shower.

Verified reviewLocation is great to explore the offerings of the old city. There was coffee and sugar provided. It’s an older facility as you’d expect in the old city
We knew the key pickup was a few blocks away however sadly the key didn’t work to get in. It was resolved after a return walk back to the key drop off. We didn’t like that both mornings the external security gate had been chained open. Ceiling fans did not work however a temporary (noisy) stand up fan was provided and if you locate this in the room with the air-conditioner you can get the living room down to comfortable temperate. The place was comfortable, clean except the shower tiles maybe, but for us there was just something missing. Maybe the absence of the little things, eg soap or tea/salt/pepper or a hand towel. Maybe it was that they were renting it for four, expecting four, but the table only had three chairs. There was just something.

Verified reviewWe originally booked a different hotel, but due to renovation delays, it got canceled last minute. Fortunately, the owner kindly offered us rooms in San Juan at the same price as compensation, and we happily accepted. When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised — the place was huge! If you're traveling with friends, family, or a loved one, I highly recommend staying here. It has the perfect location, a beautiful pool, spacious rooms, daily housekeeping, and pretty much everything you'd want for a comfortable and relaxing stay. We had an amazing time overall. The only minor issue we encountered was with the door lock, which somehow got stuck from the inside. But the staff — both the receptionist and the manager — were super responsive and immediately offered us alternative rooms. While my friends and I managed to open it ourselves (since all our belongings were inside and we had dinner plans!), we really appreciated how fast and helpful the staff was. This trip was absolutely worth it, and I’m definitely coming back!

Verified reviewGreat location. The bedroom air conditioner worked well. Staff were friendly and brought requested items, like soap, towels and a floor fan.. The apartment access is up a flight of stairs ( no elevator ) and provides a view from the balcony down Calle O'Donnell of the bay. WiFi was good most of my stay.
No air conditioner in living room, bathroom or kitchen. Ceiling fan in living room was broken. Window in living room couldn't be opened. There was construction noise every day during the day, right outside the apartment.
We have spoken to several air conditioning technicians and they have assured us a single powerful a/c unit is sufficient for said apartment. We are in the process of many upgrades and changes to our lovely apartments and that fan is high priority on our list and we apologize it was not ready in time for your stay!

The property site was having reconstruction done, so it was very cluttered with materials on the stairway. We were woken up to noise of hammering and pounding at six in the morning. The windows were shut by a plank so we could not see outside the bathroom had a huge step to get inside And the water was not hot.
This is not how we have told our workers to maintain their respective work areas. We do sincerely apologize for the inconveniences as we are not trying to affect anyone else's stay with these renovations. We have since spoken to our workers and have been assured of better conduct in the moving forward. Thank you for the honest review it helps us and it helps our guests.

Hi Ana, if you found a wooden bar in front of your balcony it is simply to prevent damage from high winds and it can be removed. We would have loved more feedback to know what to improve upon regardless we hope you enjoyed your stay!

Ants infested apartment, no hot water at first, pee stains on the wall
Our apartments are fumigated often and do not have any insects upon turning them in. We never found evidence of stains in the bathroom during our stay over service either. We thank you for leaving a review and we hope that you had a safe trip home!
