How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

It was a little filty, and didnt have enoght toiletries(ex. Paper towels, toilet paper, shampoo or conditioner)
We are confused by the 10 rating for cleanliness and the contradictory comment. If you review our lists of items provided, towel paper, shampoo and conditioner are not listed. There may be a partial towel paper roll left behind by the previous guest and we typically leave one of each of the small complementary shampoo and conditioner bottles in the master bathroom to get you through your first night if you forgot to bring that along and wanted to wait till the next day to buy some. We apologize for not having enough toilet paper. Please know that you can reach out to the host to provide more because we do sometimes have a backup cleaner come, like in your case, that may forget to stock that. For any needs, you must reach out to the host.

The air conditioner didn't work in living room. Notified owner Monday didn't get a call back until Wednesday. Didn't get fixed til Thursday.
We apologize for the inconvenience. The air conditioning was working, the remote was just not working. Instructions have been added of how to turn on the air conditioning unit on the unit if the remote is not working. The host was having some medical issues during your stay and couldn't get someone to the property. Please come back and see us and we will provide you with a discount.

Verified reviewI loved the location. It was quiet and peaceful. We were about an hour away from San Juan, which created a perfect environment to relax and unwind.
We ran out of toilet paper on the first day and the manager said that he'd get back to us. He never did. This was the only problem we had during our stay.

Verified reviewI liked the style of the home, the view from both balconies, and the response of the owner. He responded in a timely manner when I didn't receive the email with the instructions. The beach was 5 minutes away, which surprised us due to the unnerving drive. The pool was clean. The security was helpful.
I hated the drive to the location. It was around steep mountain cliffs. We Definitely needed to know this and to expect to use toll roads. You must use toll roads or it takes you to the top of a mountain and through scary back routes. The unit was clean and nice but had ants. I saw about 5 small roaches. The whirlpool tub didn't work. We ran a bath in the tub and black particles came out of the pipes, so that should be maintenance more. The unit is at the tip top of the hill in the complex, so walking to the pool is a bit of work with kids.
Thank you for staying with us and I'm glad you could enjoy some of the amenities, Lawanda. There are a lot of beaches in the area, but a lot of people love walking across the street to Punta Tuna Beach so I hope you were able to enjoy that beach. Usually guests express how much they enjoyed the drive and the amazing views of the ocean and mountains, I'm sorry to hear that you did not. We do provide our location on Google maps, it shows the more direct route with notification of tolls and other routes without tolls. This is an island so there are sometimes bugs, but we do have a service that sprays regularly so I will reach out to them. I can assure you that our cleaning staff did not find any bugs when they cleaned prior to your arrival. The controls have been eliminated from the master bedroom tub (since it did not work and couldn't be fixed prior to us purchasing the property), but it is still a nice size tub/shower to utilize. We actually have never had a guest in 3 years use the bathtub only the shower, including the owners, we have contacted maintenance to fill up the bathtub to see if there is more that needs to be done to clean the pipes. There are more units that are higher up the hill from us, but if guests choose not to walk down to the pool, then they will drive and drop off people.

Puppy smell in Master BR. 3 air conditioners on the blink. T.V. in LR had 2 dark lines on screen when on.
Thank you for staying at our condo and we hope you enjoyed your time to offset some of the displeasure that you had. I honestly don't know about the puppy smell because we don't allow any pets at our condo and it is thoroughly cleaned before each guests' arrival. We were made aware of the AC and TV issues after your stay and since replaced them all with brand new AC units and TV. We hope you will come stay again.
