Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe proprietor was one of the most welcoming I have encountered in my 80,000km bicycle ride around the world. Greeting us with “Bring the bicycles inside and store them securely on the patio.” Music to a cyclist’s ears! And very friendly and pointing us to the “best restaurant within 100 kilometers.” True! And, conveniently, 100 meters from the hotel. The hotel was charming and super clean and super comfortable. Great beds, a lovely deck overlooking the city (and the finest restaurant for 100kilometers). A really great stay for a weary cyclist—-obrigado! Michael Himes

SpainNot the fault of the facility, but just in front of us, in the street, there was a pole with a mysterious box that looked like an electricity or fiber connection something, I didn´t have any radiation meter with me, but I¨m sure the air conditioning may emit more radiation when connected,. Also, the fact that there was a bar with chairs on the street close to the facility entrance, so it may be difficult to park the car there and have to park it on the round square instead. Not much of a problem if you have to carry heavy luggage, but just to have it in mind. The hotel is in front of a church with a bell tower but don´t worry, because is not belling all night, it starts, I think I remember around 7:00 or 8:00 am-.
People in Portugal are very friendly and considerate. This facility admits pets, despite they have a couple of cats, so you are warned in case you want to use the pool and take the dogs to be around it since that´s the cat´s favorite place to hang around. The room had air conditioning, so in July, despite the air being cool in the morning and during the night, opening the balcony door will be enough, if you don´t want the mosquitos to visit you at night, better use the air conditioning, or mosquito traps. -Mind there is leishmaniosis in the south of Portugal. The balcony was great, and my pets loved to cuddle in their beds under the stars. Also, the owner will sell you water bottles -garrafas in Portuguese-, for 1 € each. Very nice to be able to walk the dogs in the morning or at night around the town in silence. There are stray dogs, mind you. There may be some barking, for territoriality, but nothing serious.

United KingdomThe only minus point was that the breakfast was not particularly good. It was adequate but very ordinary.
The room was very comfortable indeed. We had a nice view over the town. The garden was nice. The staff member in the evening was friendly and helpful. The restaurant across the road was superb. We were able to swim at the nearby praia fluvial. There are waymarked walks from the hotel.

United KingdomThe shower took a very long time to warm up and was not exactly hot at maximum. There didn't seem to be hot water for shaving in the morning, but we didn't want to waste a lot of water running it through.
The hosts were caught off guard since we'd ordered a twin room and they didn't have one available, despite Booking .com taking our money. They made a room available for us and were very sympathetic to our requirements and very pleasant and freindly speaking good English. The room was good, and the breakfast good.

United KingdomThe bathroom was clean but the drainage from the bath was a problem; there was a terrible blockage and even after the shortest of showers, I was left paddling in water that took around 20 minutes to drain away.
Super location, friendly and attentive staff. Free parking, conveniently located directly outside.

PortugalThe hotel has a pervading smell of damp although we saw no mould anywhere. The double bed was very small which is not a problem for us, but the mattress was extremely hard and the pillows filled with chunks of foam which separated and flattened in minutes, which meant we had very little sleep throughout the night. I believe we were the only guests in the hotel, as we did not see or hear anyone else. At breakfast the buffet table was all but empty and all the food choices were laid out on one table so that there was hardly any room to eat. When more plates were brought other full plates were removed as there was not space. For instance ham & cheese were brought and 3 plates of bread removed to the kitchen. We could not understand why the food was not laid out on the buffet table. Most peculiar behaviour. We were not offered any hot food. Also no staff spoke to us at all, even though we understand and speak Portuguese. We arrived back after dinner in the evening and asked if for a drink at the bar. The family were sitting watching TV and looked at us like we were an inconvenience. On departure there was not a soul about to thank us for coming, ask if we'd enjoyed our stay, or say goodbye We had stayed at Betica a few years previously and it was very pleasant then, so we decided to come again, but we were sadly disappointed. Thank goodness we had only booked for 1 night
The hotel is quite pretty and set in the quiet town of Pias
