Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CanadaI loved this place. It was exactly as described in the photos and felt welcoming right away. On arrival, a volunteer gave me a tour and explained the rules, which made me feel very well received. The space is beautiful, and the common areas are amazing. It’s definitely the kind of place where you can stay for several days. There’s a really good vibe, and people were respectful of each other. The dorms were also very comfortable. The location is convenient, close to a supermarket and not too far from the beach. For those who enjoy yoga, there’s a morning session available every day. Overall, I truly enjoyed my stay here.

This hostel was one of the warmest and most welcoming places I’ve ever stayed at. You could truly feel that the hosts cared deeply about the travelers – not just in a professional way, but with genuine interest and heart. It felt like a little family, both among the guests and with the hosts. The whole place is beautifully decorated, with so much love and attention to detail. It’s cozy, inviting, and feels like home from the very first moment. Whether it was tips about beaches, snorkeling, surfing, or just general advice for first-time visitors – the hosts always took their time to help, explain, and share their knowledge. I never felt rushed or like I was just “one of many” – there was always time for a real conversation. The morning yoga sessions were beautifully guided. When I needed a bike to rent, it was taken care of immediately. You could really feel that everything in the hostel was thought through with care – nothing was missing, everything was made for guests to feel at ease and enjoy their stay to the fullest. Grateful for this wonderful stay Kristin ☀️ 💙🍀

GermanyThis has got to be one of the most beautiful hostels I have ever stayed at. Everything has such a beautiful personal touch. The owners are super sweet and caring. The beds are so comfortable and the outdoor area is really lovely. There was even free yoga every morning. The location is a little far from the beach, but directly adjacent to a big supermarket and a bus stop. Plus you can rent a bicycle, so nothing is really far away. Would definitely recommend staying here and if ever I'm back in Sagres, this is my place of choice!

GermanyI had a wonderful stay at the Black Sheep Hostel in Sagres and can highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. The location is perfect — right next to the bus stop and just steps away from a grocery store, making everything super convenient. The setup and atmosphere of the hostel are incredibly inviting, with so much attention to detail. There are lovely chill-out areas both inside and outside, perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need, and the beds are really comfortable with cute sheets. I especially appreciated the curtains on each bed, which gave that extra bit of privacy. There’s also plenty of storage space for your personal belongings, which is always a plus in a hostel. Esther, the host, is incredibly kind and always happy to help — she really makes the place feel like a home away from home. All in all, a cozy, welcoming spot that I’d happily return to!

The Black Sheep was perfect for what I needed. I wanted to stay in a cosy, immaculate, welcoming hostel and that is exactly what Black Sheep is. Amazing hosts who go above and beyond for helpfulness and friendliness. The hostel is also in a fabulous location for getting around Sagres and accessibility. I came to Sagres to surf and that is what I did, the surfing available via the hostel was perfect. Reasonably priced and the surf instructors were fabulous. I really couldn't have asked for more. Not only that I realised that I had forgotten my swimming costumes in the drying area and the hosts mailed them back to me. Really appreciate my time at Black Sheep and would highly recommend to solo / group travellers. FAB!

United KingdomThe place has a really nice vibe to it, a great mixture of places to sit, by your own or have a chat with a fellow traveler. 15 minutes to the local beach for some surf and had some great surfboard to rent from. It was a great experience and met some really nice people there. Felt it was more a mature age of people staying there, but that cool.
