Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

The location was great. Near the bars and restaurants but quiet to have a good sleep. The host was lovely, very kind and responsive. The place was very clean with all facilities you need. The design and fornituras of the apartment was nice and new.

Unfortunately the house is in a neighbourhood that includes barking dogs. Without air conditioning we needed to keep the windows open at night, which meant more noise. They could improve the property with an air con system so that you could close the windows if the dogs were barking. On our second night the dogs were quiet so this does not happen regularly.
Casa Lua is like staying at a friend’s house. Hosts Susana and Andre are kind and helpful. The house is easy walking distance to Martinhal Beach and the Sagres marina, as well as a good small supermarket. We were welcomed to use the host’s own kitchen, and to eat on the outdoor patio. We also very much appreciated the use of the beach umbrella!

Nice place close to the centre of Sagres and fifteen minutes from the beach. Quiet and clean with a good kitchen.

We have traveled a lot...and I don't remember ever trying to cancel a room...but the guest didn't want to...she didn't answer the phone either...then she wrote to us...there was no kitchen, everything was super dirty, full of cobwebs, the only thing there was a blanket and the heater at 30 degrees in August, not a fan...no shampoo or shower gel...the bed was horrible...an experience to forget...in the photos it looks like one thing but the house is very old...the first thing we did when we arrived was start cleaning...
There was a couple in the room next door... that was the only good thing... and we were close to the beach... but the town itself is already close to the beach

The location is close to city center. Both the garden and the apartment are beautiful with a great vibe. The host is one of the kindest people I’ve met and can always help you.

Casa lua embraces the guest with many beautiful details and thus creates a comfortable home. Susana, the hostess, is cheerful and warm, helps with all questions and otherwise stays discreetly in the background. I can recommend Casa lua without any ifs or buts!

Nice owner but seldom saw her. Not much to see in this neighborhood.
Fairly basic small room in a home with shared kitchen. There is one other guest room. Bathroom was adequate.

No wifi. The owner didn’t advertise it but we just didn’t realise we when booked. :-)
Location was great and awesome to have our own little space ! Great to have a washing machine too!

toilet was dirty when we arrived i missed a better opportunity to cook no aircon or fan ( had to buy it ourselves) one chair inside… could be more, or another comfortable option to sit down and chill bed was okay, but you can feel every single move of your travelling partner next to you would have been good to get an introduction from the staff in the beginning ( what are the keys for, what can we use…)

It was a lovely house with good amenities. It made Sagres accessible and fun to explore. Despite not being at the property during our stay, the owner was very kind and full of great recommendations for our stay.
