Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesI wanted to like this place, hippy style is ok and gives it a color. But we were afraid to touch the towels and the bed covers felt like they were not washed a while too. So the stay gave us an uncomfortable feeling and we couldn’t wait to leave. Not a good experience to have in such a gorgeous city.
It was good location and value.

PolandThis house needs a proper renovation (which would cost a fortune, I imagine...). What I disliked the most was that the tourist tax was not included in the amount I paid via booking. Literally, NO ONE has coins when traveling straight from the airport if their country's currency is not the euro (and even in Europe are places where we still have our own currency) - and they want me to put this tax money TO AN ENVELOPE and then HIDE IT to the BOX in the living room just as I arrive and CHECK-IN. That was bizarre. The tax is 2 euros per person per night, and we (2 ppl), of course, had to pay a little more for our one-night accommodation, because the smallest nominal we had was a 5 euro note.
This is a very odd place. Unique decorations, crazy Russian tea table / elderly English lady style... I think when people read 'hotel' they can never expect what AL-Almada 4 is. But maybe it's more Portuguese than any other hotel...? The definition of the word 'rustic'. I kinda liked it there, but it wasn't what I expected at all and I think others may have reconsidered staying at AL-Almada 4, especially if they like spacious bright, and clean interiors with no dust-catching colorful trinkets at every glance. The Wi-fi was quite good though and it was not very hard to find the place when arrived at the metro station.

SwedenYou can hear the neighbours well, so not so much privacy. But still good room! Good communication via whatsapp with the owner but then we got quite aggressive messages and missed calls because of not having paid the tourist tax right away (the reason was not having the exact change for it, only having big bills). Maybe it was because of the language barrier but it made us quite uncomfortable.
Great location. Good for a short stay.

TaiwanI stayed on 4th floor but there is no elevator lift. Troublesome if you are with heavy luggage. The heating system is not warm enough in the cold winter. The front door sometimes does not open (not sure if its because of electricity's gone sometimes) The building itself is so old that it makes a creaking sound when you walk through the corridor. The wall is not thick enough - can not sleep because of the sound from the next door.
Convenient location with east access to the station and most of the tourist spots. The room is much bigger than I expected.

United KingdomIt was an attic transformed into a room - the ceiling was very low and I hit my head against roof beams a couple of times. It also meant that I needed to travel up and down narrow stairs whenever I needed to use the bathroom. The place was a bit dusty. Two tiny heaters provided were not enough on colder December nights - the host offered extra blankets and explained she couldn't provide more heaters as the fuse would go off (at least I think that's what she meant). The blankets offer was polite but not a satisfactory solution as I couldn't sleep with a blanket over my face to avoid a sore throat the next morning, plus my clothes that were damp from being caught in the rain outside wouldn't dry there because it was too cold (which blankets also wouldn't solve). On arrival I was asked to send a photo of my passport via WhatsApp - very risky from cyber security perspective and I would never recommend doing this to anyone. I redacted some info from it but still felt really uneasy doing this. Communication was sometimes a bit weird, which had to do with the host's English language skills (though I'm sure she was doing her best). A note to future travellers that the municipal tax is payable in cash only and you're asked to have the exact amount on arrival as there's no one there to give you the change.
Excellent location and I can recommend for this reason alone. Inexpensive, so all in all good value for money. The host was polite and asked several times whether everything was ok during my stay.

FinlandBed bugs on last night, room number 1. There was a stench of spray kill in the room. I checked the mattress if there was remains of bed bugs but wasn’t. I had to open window to get the stench of poison out of the room. Everything went fine until last night. Then I got three bites. That mattress has to be thrown away and call the professionals to poison the room. There is no lift and 4th floor. But anyway it is hiking every day in Porto, so no actual complaints. Every morning I had to queue to have a shower. No queues after 11.00.
Location, fridge and decoration.
