How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewGreat location - the apartment is situated on a cute street with tons of bars and restaurants. We love the pool with an amazing view of the city. The apartment had everything we needed, housekeeping, took place daily with fresh towels. I’m definitely staying over again if ever in Lisbon.
Nothing comes to mind to be honest

Verified reviewWe stayed at the executive one bedroom apartment in June where the feast of St. Anthony is celebrated in all the historic neighborhoods. The space was clean and very spacious. Staff were very friendly. Kitchen was nice, didn't cook meals but we were able to refill and keep our water cold in the fridge, and make coffee every morning. Lots of good restaurants just a short walk down the street. Close to the main attractions, within walking distance (on average 5-20 min walk). I recommend staying at this hotel as long as you know which areas to avoid at night, any other month than June unless you're okay with loud parties outside, and can arrive within reception hours, then you will have a pleasant stay. Otherwise I recommend Baixa-Chiado area to stay.
Although we were notified and were aware of the large party and festivities in June, it wasn't clear that there would be a party right next to the hotel, right below our windows with huge crowds and live music every night going into midnight. Windows and walls are not soundproof. We also arrived in martim moniz early in the morning to get to the hotel, up an escalator, and it was a dirty and very sketchy area with lots of loiterers. At night it was dangerous going back to the hotel through there. If you can get to the hotel from the south side, through the street with restaurants, without going through martim moniz, you will be fine. The street the hotel is on is safe. I recommend getting off at Rossio station instead. Also keep in mind reception only opens at 9am and no earlier. Photos below are of the crowds below our window. The hotel exterior also does not match the photos on Google when I first booked. Their old location has been replaced by a new hotel. It looks like it's just apartments now, the corner building. The hotel front is just a door with a plaque with the name on the side of it. Location and photos on Google maps need to be updated. It was very confusing when we first arrived. This is also not a 5-star hotel (bordering 3) as indicated on google maps. Regardless of the noise, we looked at it positively and joined the cultural festivals with beer and people watching.

Verified reviewIt is a nice little hotel
They let a group of barbaric young adults in that partied all night in the floor below us. Even during the day they were smoking in the pool and fighting each other. Nobody from the staff was telling them to respect the other guests. We left the pool area. Later, I contacted staff about the terrible noise coming from this group before the reception was closed (open till 9pm according to booking info) via message but nobody reacted. I also sent complaints with voice records and videos to the two hotel phone numbers but nobody reacted. We did not dare to approach the group of 8 men that were seemingly aggressive. Seemed like too many people for one room. Some of them left by car early around 6 in the morning. They brought their own speakers with club-Volume music and a bass that was shaking our bed. Music was playing all night and we could not sleep for a second. Asking the reception and manager for a refund, they said that they do not refund us and we have to go through booking with our complaint…

Verified reviewEverything was wonderful and we loved being there. The pool and the garden as well proximity to loads of good places to eat and drink made it exceptional.
The shower did not give a lot of hot water, which considering the hot weather wasn’t a big problem

Verified reviewThe air conditioner is effective (albeit quite loud), there was lots of space, and it was good to have cooking facilities. There were more cooking implements than you would find in other apartment style accomodation - of course this does include the standard nonstick pans so scratched they are a biohazard.
Other guests were having an UNBELIEVABLY loud ALL NIGHT party. It was impossible to sleep as the noise was so pervasive. When I wrote to reception via WhatsApp I was told (many hours later) that ‘an official complaint’ had been made; however, this doesn’t help me and was not at all an acceptable response. The apartment and the facilities are generally old, dirty, and very rundown - think a shower drain so blocked that you’re standing ankle deep in shower water, and a very old tv not capable of streaming. We were so disappointed by the hotel that we looked for alternatives. The area is dodgy - extensive homeless encampments around the accomodation, and the smell of urine is thick on the walk down the hill to the metro/town.

Verified reviewThomas is the very best ambassador for Apartments Pateo and in fact for Lisbon. A wonderful friendly helpful person, he made our brief 3 nights stay in Lisbon exceptional with is advice and suggestions. The apartments are very comfortable and in a brilliant location with easy access to the castle and the main squares below. They are well appointed with all the amenities one could possibly want and very spacious. The onsite parking is an absolute bonus in a city where parking is at a premium.
Nothing to dislike they are lovely apartments in the centre of everything.
Dear George, Thank you very much for your nice comment. It was a great pleasure for me to host you on Pateo. I hope we will see each other again. Best wishes Tomas, Pateo LLS

Verified reviewThe apartment was very spacious and provided good separation of the bedroom from the kitchen area. The double windows do a very good job of keeping out street sounds. I wish I had stayed here additional time. The nearby area had lots of small bars and restaurants. There was also a nearby comprehensive grocery with which to stock the fridge. There is an elevator/lift. That is a much appreciated benefit when staying in the older parts of a city. I had frequent, helpful communication with the staff, making this an easy booking. I would definitely book here again!
It was all good for me.
