How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Verified reviewUnfortunately we were charged twice... One by booking and one in the hotel. There is a huge lack of communication between booking and the hotel and we ended up in this situation. We already contacted both but we're still waiting for our money back.

We received your email, in which you only sent us the proof of payment charged to the Hotel, but you are missing the proof of payment withdrawn from your bank account by Booking so that we can confirm what you are accusing us of. Booking also considers this unusual, because in the complaint you made to Booking you did not send any proof that the payment was withdrawn from your account twice. Booking is not authorized by us to charge any type of amount to the customer, the amount to be paid is charged at our reception and has operated this way for years. We deeply regret that, instead of waiting for us to try to understand what happened, you preferred to comment on our page, to the misinformation of all other potential guests, an incorrect statement about the dynamics of Booking - Hotel Dunas, casting doubt on our seriousness as professionals. However, we contacted Booking, who informed us that they will take it from here.

Prison-like entry and exit to complex, room not cleaned every day,locked gate and front door, forgot to bring breakfast, bedroom wall with highly sexually suggestive and offensive photo, rooms by the hour????? Advertised as "only one room left" and hotel was virtually empty. Price on marquee "From 40/night". We paid 80 per night with locked-in price. We feel Booking .Com did not vet this hotel and that description did not depict a most unusual and unsettling experience.
Thank you very much for your feedback, we would have preferred it to have been more truthful. It is explicit in Booking and not "between the lines" that we have Hotel and Motel. In fact, Booking doesn't allow anything "between the lines". I'm sorry, but I don't understand where you saw the highly suggestive and offensive photo on the wall, since we have families staying there and never once had anything like that pointed out to us. The rooms per hour we have are at the Motel, not the Hotel. What I think happened and since it seems to us that you draw conclusions based not on what you experience but on what you think, is that you saw the Motel's website and not the Hotel's. You paid the price listed on Booking and which is also displayed on our counter, you paid neither more nor less than what was announced. Couldn't get into hotel, staff not even abit of english, room was dirty, left from previous people food and alcohol so it was obviously stinking in the room, then issue trying to get out of parking also its advertised as hotel but is actually a motel

We have 12 employees at Hotel Dunas, unfortunately not all of them speak English, but they helped Mrs. and managed to get into the Hotel because he enjoyed his stay. However, the situation of the dirty room may have been due to some computer problem, making this room free for use, however we did not obtain any information at the time from Mrs. to change rooms, for this same reason the room was certainly not dirty. Finally Mrs. She was in the part of the Hotel in the room she booked, where she was attended to by an employee at the physical reception and had our outdoor parking lot to leave her car. If you had gone to a Motel, your check-in would be done by an automatic teller machine (without human contact), you would choose the suite at the time and the number of hours you wanted, and go to the private garage in your suite. Finally, you would pay upon departure at our automatic check-out. How do you see Mrs. He was not at the Motel but at the Hotel. We appreciate your feedback. Hotel Dunas does not have a restaurant nor has it ever had an open restaurant, that is, your comment makes no sense. We have our room-service service available to customers 24 hours a day. There's a mine in the room with everything we have and just call the reception and it's served in the room, whether it's dinner, lunch, coffee, drinks or breakfast. For this reason, he had in his room an entrance hall with a dining table and a service pass to receive your order at any time.
