Room could have been cleaner, rug needed vacuum and suncream on door handles. Breakfast wasn't great, the food on the hot food buffet was very cold and dried out.

Good location for walking into the centre of Alvor, close to the beach and walkways . Very clean , nice breakfasts, very pleasant staff. Easy access to plenty of restaurants for lunch or dinner. Lovely suite with walk in shower as requested.

Check in not ready at 3pm, room was not fully clean. Air con requires you to constantly have to turn it on(it automatically switches off and does not allow you to choose temperature)…

The staff weren't friendly and service was slow. There appeared to be a lack of leadership, or anyone overseeing service, except for one morning when it was clear an experienced staff member was working and a manager appeared to be doing a visit inspecting all that was going on. The staff didn't seem to know the price of things and a simple coffee order with breakfast was problematic. Another time we ordered food and were told we could eat it at the pool, only to be told when it was ready that we had to go to the bar to eat. The beds at the poolside were a bit worn and uncomfortable. The beds in the room were a little hard. The hotel itself is fabulously located, beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean, the staff (bar/reception/breakfast) definitely let the overall experience down. No warmth, no welcome, no engagement only when approached, and even then you got the impression they'd rather you didn't bother them. A little training and supervision would go a long way.

Variety of menu, after a couple of lunches.. You feel like you need something new.. May be a daily specials would be perfect.

The staff were amazing! I have special diet and each meal they were so proactive and attentive. Really outstanding service. We had one of the best stays there due to difference made by the staff.

It's starting to look a little tatty now - sun loungers are terrible and old, the pool/ decking areas need a revamp. Felt like the outside wasn't looked after - dirty/messy around the pool area Didn't see anyone tend to the pools. Breakfast service has also changed. No more staff serving tea/ coffee. Noticed a change in food quality this time. Also no longer offer a welcome drink (which was a lovely touch) and bar drinks have really jumped in price the past 18 months.

This was our fifth visit to South Beach. We like the location to the beach however it is a 15-20 minute walk into town. We like the decor and vibe of the hotel

My only complaint was the music played in the bar and restaurant area techno dance music all day in a hotel where guests are middle aged or very young families was not suitable they need to rethink their play list

the hotel is a low raise building nearly on the beach, just a short work along the boardwalk, breakfast is more suited for Europeans than British however all was good. very good for families as there's a few pools with loungers the village is approx 20 minutes away on foot, 5 minute taxi ride.

The bed was really uncomfortable The shower leaked and flooded the bathroom floor on every use! Read similar reviews prior to our stay from a year ago and a little disappointing that I'm writing the same review a year on and nothing has been changed!

Great hotel and a fantastic base in Alvor! 3 beautiful pools, stones throw from the beach, lovely & quiet. The rooms were really clean and staff were lovely - highly recommend!

No free access to beach loungers had to pay if wanted to access them on beach. For 5 star would have thought access would be free. A small discount is available but still not great.

Loved chilled vibe by pool and ease to walk into Alvor centre. Great breakfast.
