Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsWe had the room with four beds, bathroom and a terrace. The terrace is really big, but lacked anything to sit on (and also in the room itself there is no chair to take outside). So my tip would be to put chairs there, it would add to the value.
Basic, clean place, about ten minute drive to the airport. Good value for money

United StatesThe room was quite squished. I shared with 4 or 5 men, which was fine - all of them friendly and respectful... but no concern for smelly shoes
The garden is amazing, particular at night. Good showers with plenty of space in the bathroom. The kitchen area was also very good

United StatesThe hostel caters to longer-term guests, which is impossible to know in advance. This isn’t a problem, just a thing I hadn’t considered and took me a bit by surprise.
I loved the outdoor area. The WiFi reaches the garden!!! This never happens in hostels, and it was amazing to be able to meet clients and attend meetings from such a lush setting. Host was super supportive when I expressed anxiety about staying in a mixed room with people who were long-term guests, and she went out of her way to help me find the right public transport for my early-morning journey to the airport.

AustraliaOnly one bathroom with shower and toilet in the same room. 15 min walk to the train. But further to the northern shopping centre. Not close to any major Porto attractions. I did feel like I was living in someone's house, a family lived on site.
Staff were very kind. The beds were comfortable, not noisy and had curtains for the beds. There was plenty of natural light, lockers and the rooms are clean and didn't smell. There's a cheap cafe 1 minute away with great fresh bread in the morning Confeitaria Doce Requinte.

GermanyThe bed was really uncomfortable und my room had a window to the street so the noise from passing cars where really loud all night long. I could not sleep very well. If you go there because of the train connection to the airport check the train operating hours beforehand (i think it starts at 6 am). Next time i would rather stay near the centrum and get uber or bolt, it's really reliable and cheap.
Check in was possible until 10p.m., the reception lady was really friendly but could not speak English, so we hat to rely on google translate. Bathroom was very clean

SloveniaIt's a small hostel so it can fill up quickly. The owners only speak Portugeese, but they actively use Google Translate with any other languages so it's not really a problem.
The hostel is close to the metro station Sinhora de Hora that connects to the the center, airport and a lot of other places dirrectly. We took the double room with private bathroom and it was a nice find for one night before our flight. The garden behind the house with a shared kitchen is also a cool place to chill after a long day.

SwedenThey took me to another buildning with people staying for a long time with all their stuff. Dark, hot, clothes and make-up everywhere. Young girls hanging around. A guy playing video-games. Not tourists.. I did not feel safe and comfortable as a grown-up woman.
I did not feel safe and walked away. Booked another hostel.

There was a very nice garden at the back of the property along with tables and chairs. Very quiet and private. Nicely maintained, with the nice trees and flowers. Additionally I also did like the outside waiting area as there were a lot of plants and flowers.

FranceSome people are clearly living there all year and it's really awkward, they spread their stuff everywhere and act like they own the dorm (some dude on his phone in his bed, talking loudly at 11pm...) Only one bathroom/one shower/one toilet for all the women, it's not manageable. I took a shower and a lady was outside complaining I was too long... It's far from the city centre. No room for luggage
Desk person was nice

PortugalOnly one bathroom per gender (including for baths). This is unacceptable. Also, since I arrive late at the hostel, I took like 15min to open the gate and entrance door because the door lucks are broken.
Shades in the bed, allowing for privacy; lockers included
