Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PortugalThere was a problem with the front door, but was fixed the day after but still needed a bit of work to open and close it. The sliding door of the apartment were kept open during the day making the bedding very damp. A small kettle was provided but is faulty. Wifi was not at the speed that is advertised.
Nuno was amazing and was available over whats app when needed. Location is great.

FranceI didn’t like that my room didn’t lock. It was humid and smelt like mold. I aired the room as much as possible. The bathroom wasn’t as clean as it could have been. The bedding was not nice. The pillows were falling apart. I had mismatched expectations. I also didn’t have the address and couldn’t find the house when I arrived. I was told I needed to call to ask for the address, I didn’t know this until I arrived and so I had to call from an international number which was not ideal.
I liked that it was an en-suite and I didn’t need to have my stuff in a locker like in a hostel. I found it a bit disappointing. I expected a room similar to that of a hotel but it was the extension of someone’s home so more similar to an Airbnb. The room doesn’t lock (it’s a window that slides), granted it was safe and they have a gate that locks the property. They don’t come on this side of the house so you can have a private doorway. It’s a bedroom not a hotel so no fridge, or anything that you’d need. It’s not a bad location there are some great restaurants walking distance including a great sushi fusion place but you can’t walk to the city and it’s not close to the main beaches. It’s probably better for a couple who wants privacy and is willing to bike around but this was not great for a solo traveler.

United KingdomA couple of things I mentioned at the time - would have liked hooks for the wet towels - I used the ladder to hang some more clothes as there wasn't space on the rack. Kettle doesn't work properly but easy to replace. The one thing I didn't mention at the time was that the bedlinen and towels smelt quite musty as though they hadn't been dried properly. U;n sure this can be easily rectified though!
Room was very clean, bathroom also, hosts very helpful and let me store my cold food in their fridge and offered tips on things to do and see. Very good value for money

United StatesMade us pay 30 Euro more in person because we had a third person who decided to join our trip last second. Unkind owner, unreadable internet password, photos are not the same as I person, thin covers, musky smell in bathroom, told us door has to be opened when showering from tiny room. The room feels like a garage and Overpaid for what we received.
Unhappy with this place.

United KingdomThe property wasn't safe, there is a sliding window/door which wouldn't lock, so we didn't feel safe during the night as anyone could come in. Also we would take all our stuff with us during the day because it wasn't safe to leave them behind. Also, this is not a deluxe suite as said in the title, it's probably just someone's garage who they turned into a room. There was mould in the room and a very bad smell and there were no handsoap or toiletries in the bathroom. Worst thing is that the room wouldn't lock, the owner mentioned for consolation that the chief of the police was leaving in the neighborhood so it would be safe. This shouldn't exist in Booking's platform as a room when they don't provide the most basic thing...safety

ItalyThe room was a bit small, but we knew that when booking it. It was also a bit difficult to find because Booking just gave us the street, not the number. But ultimately, the owner found us. This is not a reflection on him nor the facility.
The owner was so pleasant and accommodating. He couldn't do enough for us! The bed was comfortable, the place was very clean, the location was perfect, and it was very quiet.

IsraelThe owner asked to be informed 20 minutes before arrival. The communication between us was on WhatsApp. I sent a message 20 minutes before my arrival (I updated in advance the expected arrival time but I had delays with the car rental, and I announced that I would not arrive at the specified time). There was no response. I arrived and called on WhatsApp, and there was no answer. I called several times - no answer. I had to download Skype software to my phone, pay to call the number I received from Booking's customer service.. The owner said there was no internet. I think that if you host tourists, you should either leave them a key and entry instructions, or be available. I shouldn't be waiting outside for at least half an hour until the host arrives. It was not possible to sleep at night, the wall between the unit and the owner's apartment is very thin and the baby was crying all night. The owner later explained that the baby's teeth hurt. I'm sorry for her and for the parents, but if I had known that the wall was so thin and there was a family there with a baby, chances are I wouldn't have booked the room. And that's without adding the dogs that bark non-stop. There were many other things that were not good about this accommodation. It is easily the worst place I stayed in Portugal. Waste of money, time and energy.
The unit smelled nice and looked clean.

PortugalJust deceitful, for starters the main gate handle was rotten and broken, owner said it had “problems” that only the key should be used; very tricky to close the room main slidinh door closing the stores requires guidance from the owner whom by the way lives right there with an access door to their house in the patio; so much for getting any privacy. The room is probably a refurbished locked space in the garden, adjacent to the main house, it’s a bit crampy with cheap furnitures; not very comfortable with an obvious moisture problem; no fridge, had to ask for glasses and water; this property is bad mix between a airbnb concept gone rogue and a hostel; as a frequent traveller this is an experience i would neither recommend nor repeat.
The presence of the pseudo patio; good for a smoke outside

CanadaThe room's kitchen, although equipped with a coffee maker, lacked coffee pods, and guests are expected to purchase them. Additionally, essential items like salt, pepper, oil, and spices were missing from the kitchen amenities. Breakfast can be enjoyed at the café across the street, and while it was delightful, it wasn't included in the price, but at a discount for guests. Moises, who manages both the accommodation and the café, was accommodating regarding breakfast choice options.
Perfect location in Cascais! Moises displayed professionalism, warmth, and helpfulness. He assisted us in carrying our bags upstairs and ensured our comfort throughout our stay. The room was generously sized, well-lit, and cozy. Breakfast was good! We would have definitely stayed a second night, if there was room!

I was there for over two weeks.

PortugalMediocre at best, the room is small and crammed, with clear humidity and mold problems in the bathroom, which ultimately must have passed on to the towel, which smelled bad. There is no fridge nor any ammenities to have a comfortable stay. A tiny hanger is there, however it doesn't hold much. If you planned on traveling with your pets. DO NOT STAY HERE, as they do not allow for animals to stay in the room / terrace. The host told us that the pets couldn't stay without us, neither in the room, nor the terrace, forcing us to cancel any visits or restaurants that we had booked and paid aforehand. We had to pay an extra 15€ a night per pet, despite them barely accepting them. Overall really disappointing stay, would definitely not come back
The room is in a peaceful area, and access is pretty easy, however, a car is necessary to make the stay comfortable.
