Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Switzerland- Check-in with wrong indications: Breakfast is from 7:30 to 10:00, in the room it is mentioned 7:00 to 10:30, eventually (you learn next morning) it is always served from 6:30 to 10:30 - Outreageous laundry prices (4 pair of socks = 12€) - best to tell that we did our laundry ourselves - Dark room, missing lights - Old / broken furniture (bath, lights, holders, ...) - Shower/Bath water temperature almost impossible to set (you need to guess... dozen of times by trial and error) there is no mixer, no signs and it doesn't mix properly with tremendous delay. - Out of use lifts, toilets, ... - Restaurant service was somewhat disorganised on the 5.11.22 (took 45min from the time we sat to the time we got anything to drink)
- Location - Swimming pool - Beach - Breakfast (Bio corner, juices, crêpes, ...) - Room space - Room balcony - Diversed relaxation places (indoor/outdoor: sofas, long chairs, ...) - Bar (juices) - Quietness - Aircon working flawlessly and quietly - SPA (massages :))

South AfricaNo water pressure, lukewarm water only, massive jacuzzi that cannot be used. No proper Shower, only hand-held shower head. toilette smaller than an airplane toilette. When sitted, your knees touch the wall in front. AC leaking water and creates a huge puddle in the middle of the room. internet very slow (2-3 mb/s at most) Reception staff and hotel management not pleasant.
Room and restaurant staff are very pleasant. Hotel is beautiful from the outside

South AfricaLoved the architecture & design, felt like we were in the French Riviera. The pool was incredible, flowing in a design around the hotel. Barman created beautiful divine cocktails on the beach. Beach bar is amazing!!! Everyone was exceptionally helpful & so friendly. Even the airport shuttle they arranged was fantastic! We'd definitely stay there again.

South AfricaThe hotel needs an update, as it appears old and worn out, looking more like a 3-star hotel. The breakfast was extremely disappointing, with no vegetables available, not even those listed on the menu (for example, mushrooms for the omelette) and frequent shortages of some items such as scrambled eggs. I had to request tomatoes and cucumbers, which should have already been provided in a 4-star hotel. But the staff was kind and trying to help. Additionally, the room cleaning left much to be desired until I complained about it. Again, when I complained, it was then sorted. The hotel is far from any supermarket unless you have a car. I previously stayed in a 5-star hotel nearby and had a fantastic experience.
The location of the hotel was good as it was situated close to a few restaurants in Boucan Canot. The hotel had a separate beach, but unfortunately, swimming in the sea in front of the hotel was not allowed (a nearby beach can be used). The pool was nice and well-maintained. The staff was helpful, and even though some did not speak English, they tried to help. It is best to rent a car to visit other areas, especially on a rainy day, but the bus station is right in front of the hotel and only takes 7 minutes to get you to Saint Gilles centre.

FranceI didn't like the noise of the hot tub in the bathroom, very noisy so I preferred to turn it off. And the terrace door that doesn't open without creaking. But the rest was perfect!
I loved the outdoor swimming pool available at the exit from the terrace of our room, it's exceptional. I also loved the sun loungers around the pool but also facing the sea, on the sand ! The hotel is located 5 minutes walk from a tourist food area. I also appreciated the full breakfast with sea view as well as the salad at lunch. Congratulations also for the maintenance of the swimming pool which was always clean!

United KingdomWe stayed at the Saint Alexis for a week during our honeymoon trip. The hotel and staff provided us with good taste and authenticity. We will keep wonderful memories of our room with a direct access to the fabulous swimming pool which goes through the various buildings, gardens and bridges. We will also remember the lovely breakfast on the restaurant rooftop terrasse and the delicious suppers cooked by the new chef (it is a she). Thanks again to the Saint Alexis team for this dream honeymoon, we are so grateful.

Austria- Rooms are dim and dank. Furniture is old, shabby, used. - The bathrooms are old and equally used; no shower in the room, just an old jacuzzi that functions as a shower "stall". Getting the temperature right was a work of patience. - Breakfast mediocre - Staff lackluster. Took the outdoor bar staff about 25 minutes to come take an order. Cocktails were served in Ikea water glasses, and they charge extra for the bar nuts. - The entire hotel felt grimy and unclean. Badly needs a renovation. Very 90s feel. - Value for price ratio is vastly out of proportion. I don't understand how this goes as a 4-star hotel; this is 3 stars at best and I feel that the 4 star rating grossly misleads guests looking for accommodation in that quality sector. I wouldn't have minded the above points had I known this was a 2-or 3-star hotel. But 4 stars? No.
Outdoor pool area is gorgeous and well-kept; the entire garden is lovely and clean.

FranceA few too many things… It is advertised as a Spa and Hammam. Hammam does not work and based on other people’s comments, this has been going on for quite some time now. The gym facilities… is really 4 outdated equipment and two electronic devices that don’t work as there are no electricity in the room. The restaurant is way too expensive for the service you are offered. The starter for the menu released daily was not the one we were offered. We asked for sparkling water, twice, that we never received but were charged, twice. The sides served on the plate were mixed between the two dishes we ordered for main. The waitress was doing her best and had to deal with a few complaints, she was the only positive note of that evening. The keycard deactivated 5 times in two days. I realise first time might be my fault as it was close to phone but other 4 times… however, when I asked for a new keycard the third time, it didn’t deactivate anymore… Finally, some of the staff is not trained to be a 4-star staff. When mentioning that there was a cockroach in my room, I was simply answered:” that’s normal, it’s like this here” and was asked if I wanted some product to kill them…. they finally came to put some product, and I found a total of 5 cockroaches in 2 days. Haven’t seen a single one during the other twelve days I was on the Island. overall value for money is poor. This weekend was supposed to be the highlight of a 2weeks holidays, it has unfortunately not been up to expectation and is probably the only regret I have from my stay in La Reunion.
The location is perfect, on the beach, perfect for a romantic sunset. The building is beautiful and the rooms are nice.
