“To begin with, there was some confusion regarding our room. It turned out that the one we had actually booked had been allocated (for reasons that were understandable, and which were carefully explained to us) to other guests, and we were therefore offered an upgrade. Unfortunately, the lovely room in the old mansion that we were given instead did not have air-conditioning (unlike the room originally booked).
In view of the heat wave, we could therefore not accept it. One of the hotel's managers, Ms. Tanja Schneider, therefore scrambled to find a solution and finally set up for us an enormous, air-conditioned "Pavilion" suite, with its own verandah and terrace, and an idyllic view of the stream. We were offered complimentary drinks in the charming garden of the mansion while we waited, and treated with great courtesy. The professionalism of Ms. Schneider and her colleagues therefore turned a potentially embarrassing situation for the hotel into a public relations success.”
“First and foremost this is a wonderful property. As far as I know it is a typical Swiss-style home and we loved this. Inside it is nicely furnished and the attraction of the outside only deepens with the quirky and traditional vibe. Creaky wooden floors, historic features, lots of character.
The kitchen is well equipped and has what you need to cook your own meals and the dining table is also nice to have. The main bedroom is spacious and the second bedroom, even with its three single beds, didn't feel cramped. The owners have thought of almost everything that a normal household would need. There are boxes for recyclable waste which was nice and plenty of towels which I understand was an extra that the owners kindly provided.
The parking space isn't right outside the house but it isn't far at all and down a slope so transferral of luggage wasn't hard. It is a very quiet setting in a secluded spot so if you are looking for peace and quiet away from the tourist areas in Switzerland, this place is for you. Driving here also gave us the opportunity to see some of the standard Swiss countryside and non-touristic villages which was nice after the mountains, lakes, waterfalls, and meadows of the more popular regions.”
“We had a very pleasant stay. The staff were very helpful, and the hotel was ideally situated close to the train station where we needed to be. The room was quiet and the breakfast buffet had a lot of choice.”
“Very unique experience, cosy little town. Prices were reasonable given the location and the fact you're staying in a medieval castle. Free castle- museum tour included. Excellent proximity to Bern and Interlaken.”
“A lovely place with a great view and very welcoming staff. It seems to be family-run, which adds to the charm. The swimming pool is excellent—perfect for a relaxing moment after year of hard work. Truly one of the best places to unwind.”
“It was o.k.
A little bit old fashioned (some 30 years ago would get maybe 4 stars), but we expected this.
Location is great and a neaby parking lot as well.
Communition was good and we had our keys at the reception even that we came too late.
Breakfast was excellent.”
“The room was very spacious and clean, although you could see the age a bit in the furniture and bathroom. The location is perfect and the staff was very friendly.”
