  • Mishthana Canal Resort Review score: 10

“Absolutely amazing place. The owners were so lovely and really attentive - they even gave us complimentary drinks and fruits from the garden and called us when there were monkeys and birds around. Was in a beautiful setting at one with nature but still just a short walk to shops and restaurants. The room, bathroom and balconies couldn’t have been nicer. Best place we’ve stayed at in Sri Lanka :)”

  • Tropicana Hideaway Hikkaduwa Review score: 10

“Just had a great 1 night stay at Tropical Hideaway Hikkaduwa, wish we booked to stay longer! The villa has a beautiful and unique interior. With a big spacious garden to relax in. The rooms were very spacious and the open roof tropical shower and bathtub was a lovely touch. Was greeted by a very warm welcome from the hosts, who were always there to help and pass on their local knowledge of the best places to go in the local area. It's only a 5 mins ride to the beach (which is a must do!). Would recommend for anyone looking for a quiet, unique and relaxing break. Can't wait to come back! Thanks Lashan and Ishara you guys are the best! x”

  • Fort Heaven - Galle Fort Review score: 1

“The place was clean and location was good but that's the only good thing I have to say about this place. It felt like a scam. The room size was small but that was understood and I have no complaints about it.”

  • Dutch Wall Fort Review score: 10

“The location is amazing and the hotel is just like stepping back in time with this huge four poster bed that comes with a wooden box you can use as a step to clamber into bed if you area short legged creature like I am. Galle forte is a beautiful old city and I’m so glad we spent our three nights here. Our hosts were awesome too. Nazaha(sorry about spelling ) was my little sister and was sooo helpful. I had gotten a lehenga earlier in the trip and the tailor did a really poor, job to the point Nazaha laughed when I tried it on and showed her. So we went to this awesome sari and lehenga shop where i seriously bought so many items that her husband actually went out to find me a second bag to carry them all! Then she took me to her tailor who is this awesome young fashion student. She took all my measurements and then I told her to make and do whatever she liked with all the saris I bought. And BOY did she deliver! So if you want a good day and great deal, shopping get my lil sister to show you where to go and take you to her tailor. I can’t post all the photos here, but I plan to send to both women and hopefully the young fashion student student will be the go to for all the women visiting Galle who want not just saris but all sorts of gorgeous one of a kind outfits made from them. Also some only got finished after we left and Uncle (who teased me about being to old and unfit for the second story room, haha - funny fella!) drove 40 minutes away to our new accommodation to personally deliver them! What a gent! Also their nephew works there too. Just an FYI for all the single ladies hahah Oh also for,the men, check out the cricket stadium. It’s probably the MOST beautiful stadium in the world and we got to enjoy two days of cricket. Ok I,lie, I spent at least half of the second day shopping but my Aussie husband was living his best life! So yeah, great staff, great hotel, great location, huge breakfast. You will be happy you stayed there for sure!”

“I stayed with my family, this is a one of best location in Unawatuna, 15 minutes to galle fort,10 minutes to Unawatuna beach. The view was amazing. • Sleepy Head Guesthouse Review score: 10

“In August, we visited Venita and Darshaka. They are a nice, pleasant, sociable family. The apartment is beautiful, spacious, with a comfortable kitchen, with access from each room to the terrace and beautiful views. There are palm trees around, lots of birds, and the sweetest palm squirrels. In the mornings and evenings, a family of monkeys comes close. Darshaka helped us with trips to the airport and Yala National Park, and was always ready to help with advice. Venita is an amazing hospitable hostess, she prepared delicious breakfasts that will remain in our hearts. Not far from the house is the unforgettable beach of Unawatuna. We highly recommend this guest house to everyone. We will be happy to return there ourselves) We wish the hosts every well-being, prosperity and grateful guests!”
