  • Carmen's place Review score: 10

“I had a wonderful stay at Carmen's place! She and Marcel are friendly outgoing hosts, and the guesthouse has an amazing location surrounded by the jungle facing the bay. Carmen took very good care of me as a solo traveller, suggesting destinations for day-trips and activities to me and catering to small personal needs as an extra-ration of sand fly-repellent or my daily early morning tea :-) Apart of excursions to Zapatillas and Red Frog Beach, I roamed around by kayak and SUP and Carmen also organised to go out as a group for dinner and to watch some live music, which was a lot of fun! Last but not least, she prepares great dinners with different dishes and provides a generous breakfast with local fruit, pancakes, bread, jam, and your choice of eggs. Would love to come back in the future !”

  • Akwaba Lodge Review score: 10

“The location is great and very calm but yet, only 5 minutes in taxi boat from the main area. The owners are extremely nice and helpful and their food was excellent”

  • Akwaba Lodge Review score: 10

“I had the pleasure of spending four magical days at Akwaba Lodge in Bocas del Toro, and it was truly a dream come true! This place is a tropical paradise, perfect for anyone looking to relax, recharge, and reconnect with nature. From the moment I arrived, I felt completely at peace – surrounded by lush greenery, with the soothing sound of the waves in the background. It's the ideal spot for nature lovers and those who seek calm and serenity. What truly made the stay unforgettable were the incredible hosts, Mr. Jean and Natalie. They are warm, welcoming, and go above and beyond to make your stay special. Always ready with great advice, whether it's helping you plan excursions, suggesting excellent restaurants on nearby islands, or simply ensuring you're comfortable – they truly care about their guests. The food at the on-site restaurant is exceptional! Every dish is a delight – fresh, flavorful, and infused with a unique French touch that makes it absolutely delicious. Dining here was a daily highlight. Whether you're a couple looking for a romantic escape, a solo traveler, or a family with kids – this place has something for everyone. There are plenty of activities to enjoy together, and the whole property is thoughtfully designed to cater to relaxation and fun. I highly, highly recommend Akwaba Lodge to anyone looking for a unique and unforgettable holiday experience in Bocas del Toro. I can't wait to come back!”

  • Carmen's place Review score: 10

“Everything basically. Carmen, the host, runs more of a community than a bed and breakfast. Very cosy very nice details and she takes a lot of care of her guests! And she is a great cook. Staying for dinner is recommended.”

  • “The moment you reach this eco lodge you are welcomed by the proud owners Daniel and Brian. They are the perfect hosts and specialized in great food (breakfast, lunch and dinner!) and cool coktails. Nice to see how they connect you with the other interesting guests and make a real vibrant atmosphere in this lovely surrounding.”

    “Location, Friendly staff, Common areas”

  • Hostal Cay Review score: 10

“The staff were super lovely, especially Angel! He was so friendly! The location was great. It was super clean and the beds were comfortable. I liked the attention to detail by adding soap and shower gel in the bathroom. I also liked that they provided paper towels in the kitchen. Very thoughtful! Keep up the great work!”

  • “Punta Rica Lodge is definitely one of the best places I’ve stayed at in Central America. Rooms are very spacious and absolutely spotless (and very well decorated!). Staff was amazing - we got upgraded to a larger room and had complementary pick-up and drop-off to & from the main island. Daniel was extremely nice, gave us very useful recommendations, and he is an outstanding chef. Definitely recommend having dinner there at least once to try his delicious food. Breakfast is included and those were the best avocado toast and pancakes we’ve had in our lives. This place is a must! Very nice swimming pool and common area - with a sea view. Really hope to come back one day!”
