“we had a top floor room with balcony with a fabulous view of the Cathedral and all around. We loved this hotel with the sunken remains of the old church as a restaurant. It was a few minutes walk to the Cathedral and Old City, and also the Puente Romano.”

  • “The hotel and grounds are beautiful. A very peaceful location for a stop-over or extended stay a six-minute drive from the lovely town of Ciudad Rodrigo. A big thanks to Victor, the pool attendant, for answering all my questions and recommending a trip into town”

  • “Fantastic location right in the heart of Salamanca. Well appointed good size room with comfortable bed. Nice breakfast served in basement dining room. Easy to navigate to by car in spite of being inside the old town.”

  • “Meeting Columbus After our stopover in Biarritz, we set our sights on a well-deserved pause at Hacienda Zorita, a place steeped in history and character. This remarkable hacienda once welcomed none other than Christopher Columbus himself, and today it stands as a symbol of tradition beautifully restored. The estate’s definitive restoration began in 2001, and just two years later, on September 2, 2003, its doors reopened—reviving its legacy as Spain’s first and most emblematic wine hotel. From the moment we arrived, we felt that sense of timeless hospitality woven into every detail. We savored the purity in every form: organic food bursting with flavor, exquisite wines from the estate, the serene location, and the warm, inviting ambiance. It was the perfect balance of history and comfort, a retreat where body and soul could breathe again. For us, Hacienda Zorita was not just a stay, but a memory to carry forward—a crown jewel at the end of our much-needed holiday, before our onward journey to Portimão.”
