    “The hotel is brand new, since they just opened in April. Everything about the property is amazing, from the lobby, the breakfast and the rooms. The room was very spacious, with a lovely bathroom, balcony and minibar with complementary water and a small bottle of prosecco. The breakfast is also very nice, with a really big variety of sweet and savory items! And the hosts wil make you the coffee that you like. For us the location was great, it is nestled between the city centre and the valley of the temples. Since we booked our stay around visiting the temples, this was very convenient for us. You can walk to the entrance of the valley within twenty minutes. The city centre is also around 15/20 minutes walking distance. Apart from the restaurants in the city centre, there are also some restaurants closer to the hotel. There also two big supermarkets nearby. Getting to the hotel is also easy, you can walk from the central station of Agrigento, from there its around a 15 minute walk.”

    “La Pagliera is a beautiful property that has been lovingly and tastefully renovated. The rooms are large, well equipped and beautifully decorated. The property accommodates just two couples at any one time and although the roof terrace and sitting room / breakfast room are shared space, the house always feels spacious and private. Our hosts, Francesco and Susi were the best! Communication before our trip was great with lots of advice and information about the area. The welcome and the farewell were warm and genuine. In between times they were always available, but never intrusive. The ever-changing breakfast menu provided us with a gastronomic tour of Sicilian cuisine and daily ‘surprise treats’ prepared with obvious pride in the locally sourced ingredients were a delight. Amazing! La Pagliera is a great base -- with many interesting sites in the area. The ancient Greek ‘Valley of the Temples’ is a 5-minute drive away. The house has great views of the temples across the valley, particularly at night when the temples are illuminated. Visiting at dusk as the sun sets between the pillars is highly recommended. Other great places to visit are the Villa Romana del Casale and the towns of Siculiana and Sciacca. But nearby Agrigento is not to be missed. It has a beautiful cathedral, lovely winding streets, a vibrant evening atmosphere and fine dining. There are numerous sandy beaches locally, but our favourite was nearby Dune – which is only 10 minutes away.”
