Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

RomaniaThese are minor things: there was no handsoap at the bathroom (so bring your own), the bed is squeaky (so if you're a very light sleeper be advised) and the kitchen does NOT have a stove - there is a kettle and and electric steamer for eggs.
First of all, the host was kind, friendly and helpful: a lovely woman! The room was decently sized, clean and decorated with heart, and the set-up for coming in and out of the hostel is simple and allows for freedom of movement. Lastly, the eating area is spacious and the location is excellent!

CanadaDoor codes should be changed (numbers with worn off, could guess the code), having to go up and down the hill to get to supermarket, train etc
Location in the fortress, good common areas, single room was a dorm for 4 which was private, stayed cool despite high temperatures and no AC, no keys.

PolandLack of people, no guests, not even staff at the entrance, because it's a self check in, so i didn't talk to a single soul while staying there
I had a double bed, private bathroom in the room, it was a quite decent room in a nice location. I had the whole room to myself as no one else showed up. It was clean

BrazilThe common area is spacious and comfortable. The room I stayed in was on the second floor, a female dormitory with a toilet and bathroom. I had to work during the week, and there was plenty of space available with good internet, that works very well for video calls. The kitchen area has enough space and tools to prepare meals (microwave, kettle, toaster), also with space to work and socialization. The location is great! In the middle of the medieval citadel! The owner was present at all times as she was cooking for a large group of guests. She was very friendly, helped me with everything I needed and more than expected She always wanted to ensure everyone felt comfortable in the hostel. I recommend and would return to the hostel if I visit Sighisoara again.

United StatesSelf-check in process, and staff is pretty much nonexistent. I didn't have any issues during my stay, but other people who were staying there who wanted to get in touch with the staff had a very difficult time doing so.
Insane location less than a 5-minute walk from the Clock Tower. Dorms are nice and small, with only 4 beds, so you're not bunking with 12+ other people like some other hostels. Huge common area downstairs where you can sit and relax.

GermanyI was not told which bed was mine, so I just picked a clean one. The choice was not the best, however, because my mattress had a "hole". Furthermore, I didn't get the room I booked but one with a shared bathroom, which was no problem since it wasn't busy. The kitchen was very disappointing since there isn't even a stove, making cooking almost impossible. I would recommend adding a small (electric) stove to fix this issue! I didn't see any staff on site.
The hostel literally has the perfect location in the middle of the old town. The building is very impressive because of its age but kept in good shape. The hostel was not busy while I was there and the check-in was contactless via key code. The room and the bathroom were basic but well equipped.

United KingdomMy bed was not as comfortable. Can’t say that for all beds, just the one I slept on.
Priced fairly, they let me drop my bag early, room was clean. Had less of a hostel vibe but still met a few people. Excellent location in old town. Staff responded quickly but can’t say I saw a staff more than once but still felt safe. FYI for others, they did not provide shower gel/bathing soap so bring your own.

ArgentinaThere were no other travelers staying at the time so it was a bit lonely, not the hostel fault of course. There are microwaves to heat up some food but no kitchen if you want to cook. The rest was good.
Excellent location in the old part of the town and nearby attractions. It was self checkout and that was fine cause we arrived in the night, the instructions were easy to read.

ArgentinaNone was there, neither a receptionist nor cleaning personal.. none. We were only 3 hosts at the time, and non of us encountered any hostel member. one of the guest himself helped me to settle. i contact via whatsapp someone, who answered me, but anyway, it felt, for all of us, lonely and at our own. (add to this that the city was empty, with very few persons waling around and very few shops open- you should go down to the city) the room could have been updated (has a convent vibe). With not that much it could be a very nice place
the location is very good, within the citadel, but as it is a very little place, you can t go wrong here. the hostel was not bad as a whole, underground kitchen, my bedroom (at least) with bathroom. the general temperature (i was there in winter) was ok, but the bathroom was cold. the structure of the hostel is good

RomaniaThe kitchen was pretty neglected, the bathroom it my room had no heating installed, so it gets cold inside during the winter - especially the floor. The price was cheap (15 euro per night in 2024 December), but for twice as much I could have booked a room in a four star hotel, so I wouldn't really recommend this hostel unless you really need to save money.
The location is good, and the price is the cheapest in the city. I didn't meet anyone from the staff, just got the access codes in a message on this site (I only stayed for one night, and it was off-season).

CanadaI booked 4 beds with private bathroom but i was given 6 beds( though only 4 ppl there) with bathroom outside ( there is a door code for bedroom, so if i close the door, the door is locked) not convient when i went to toilet at night that i need to remember the code…. Kitchen is very minimal and no free coffee.
Location is amazing, right off the beautiful square and everything. I was only there for one night but walked day/night and be able to pop back to hostel for a rest. Close to train station 10-15 min walk. I took bus from Brasov to Sighisoara and then took train to Sibiu. Very convenient. Bed is comfortable and have a big locker . Can leave luggage before check in. Towel includes
