How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe place was right smack in old town ! So perfect 👌🏽 walkable to anywhere u want to all the main attractions
When I checked in I smelt the blanket and it wasn’t clean. Yes the bed and the sheets were but the blanket had a funky smell. I messaged the guys and they gave me another room to go to. Inconvenient bc I had to move at 11pm at night. Major stairs and I had a suitcase ! They were rude about it also saying that a female was in the room prior to me. Which defeats the purpose of hygiene.. it wasn’t clean !

Verified reviewPerfectly located in the old town. Huge common area
The bed was extremely uncomfortable - small / short, the mattress was paper thin and sank. The room doesn’t have aircon, which meant that it was very stuff in August, and if you leave the windows open for a bit of fresh air, it is extremely loud outside as you’re in the old town and the bells also go off every hour. The room is designed so two of the beds are under the slanted attic walls with very little space for movement. The bathroom stank up quite quickly once people started using it, one shower and toilet is shared between two dorms (mine had 8 people). There is also no shower head holder and it’s quite awkward, especially if you have long hair and want to wash it. Lastly, there is no staff onsite - I had a really rude, problematic person in my dorm, and no way to address it

Verified reviewThe location and price were great, really unbeatable. If you just need a decent roof over your head to sleep, this is probably the perfect choice.
Price is great, but you get what you paid (or more like didn't pay) for. Being in the room in the summer is simply unbearable. There's no AC, only a tiny window that doesn't let enough air in for the whole room (at least in our room) and the smell coming out of the pipes made things even worse. We had to keep the window and door open for at least 15 minutes before even considering staying in the room. Maybe on colder days it's better, but beware if you plan to visit in the summer.

Verified reviewPerfect location - 15min from the bus or train, just in the city center. Easy self check-in. In this type of accomodation your roommates does more then then facily itself. The level of accommodation corresponds to the price.

Verified reviewFirst of all, the host was kind, friendly and helpful: a lovely woman! The room was decently sized, clean and decorated with heart, and the set-up for coming in and out of the hostel is simple and allows for freedom of movement. Lastly, the eating area is spacious and the location is excellent!
These are minor things: there was no handsoap at the bathroom (so bring your own), the bed is squeaky (so if you're a very light sleeper be advised) and the kitchen does NOT have a stove - there is a kettle and and electric steamer for eggs.

Verified reviewSuper location, close walk to everything. I loved the social / dining room. Right in old town. Easy walk (10 minutes) to the “center”. Met great travelers from there. Restaurants and bars are a minute or 2 walk. The host, who owns it goes beyond in the way he knows Romania in general and the city.
No issues to speak of.

Verified reviewLocation in the fortress, good common areas, single room was a dorm for 4 which was private, stayed cool despite high temperatures and no AC, no keys.
Door codes should be changed (numbers with worn off, could guess the code), having to go up and down the hill to get to supermarket, train etc

Verified reviewI had a double bed, private bathroom in the room, it was a quite decent room in a nice location. I had the whole room to myself as no one else showed up. It was clean
Lack of people, no guests, not even staff at the entrance, because it's a self check in, so i didn't talk to a single soul while staying there

Verified reviewThe common area is spacious and comfortable. The room I stayed in was on the second floor, a female dormitory with a toilet and bathroom. I had to work during the week, and there was plenty of space available with good internet, that works very well for video calls. The kitchen area has enough space and tools to prepare meals (microwave, kettle, toaster), also with space to work and socialization. The location is great! In the middle of the medieval citadel! The owner was present at all times as she was cooking for a large group of guests. She was very friendly, helped me with everything I needed and more than expected She always wanted to ensure everyone felt comfortable in the hostel. I recommend and would return to the hostel if I visit Sighisoara again.

Verified reviewAmazing location, dorm was lovely and spacious with private shower and bathroom. The courtyard was so cool on the hotter days, great to cool down before heading out to dinner.
The kitchen consists of a microwave and kettle only, no hob / cooker - something to be aware of before shopping for your stay.
