How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe had an excellent stay at the property. Brilliant location right in the middle of the beautiful old town. Great on site cellar bar, many complementary items including daily replenished coffee pods, croissants and welcome drinks. Parking close by and decently priced.

Verified reviewBeautiful little guesthouse set around a pretty courtyard. It has a cellar bar specialising in the production of a local spirit, which the lovely owner insisted we try before we went out sightseeing!
There are no coffee/tea facilities in the rooms, so you have to go out to the courtyard to make a drink, and I couldn’t find any coffee or milk so it was herbal tea or nothing!

Verified reviewThe location is great, and the host was very friendly.
There was some mold in the shower which you could smell in the room. The room is also tiny, and I can imagine that it could be cramped for 2 people. Also, the host was very busy, as he is running a one-man show. I could not even arrange a tasting with him, which was one of my reasons for staying here. Compared to prices I paid in other towns in Transylvania, this seems a bit expensive for what was offered.
Dear Chanelle, We appreciate very much you chose to spend your night in Sighisoara with us. Also thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on your stay. At the same time, we were saddened to hear that your time with us didn't meet your expectations. Indeed, this is a family business, so we do everything ourselves, but it's definitely not a one man show :-) you just got the chance to meet the most important man of our show, Mr. Teo who is extremely passionate about his drinks, hence the cellar it's where we find him everytime when looking for him, offering tastings to people, meeting new people, socializing. We're sorry to hear about your experience with the shower, but we want to assure you of our high standards with regard to cleanliness. All the rooms are rigorously cleaned, therefore, mold is an impossible find. Yes, the silicone around the shower cabin does not stay transparent for too long after applying it, it gets a dark tint and that's normal for it to do it, that's why we regularly have it removed and reapplied. But mold is a different story, which does not belong into our beloved house. Even after reading the review we made sure to triple check all rooms, including the one you were hosted in, and, as expected, there was no mold to be found. Regarding the size of the room, we are very transparent about this and before booking, one could compare room sizes on all available platforms. The size of the room is even reflected in the price of the room, which is the smallest out of all our rooms. Also, the size is not something we could change, given the house is built around XVI century. Transylvania is really beautiful, but the opportunity to spend your night in a 500 year old house, in the heart of a unique medieval citadel, is something unique (deemed also by UNESCO), hence can't be really compared to other experiences. Thank you again for taking the time to share your thoughts with other travelers and it was nice meeting you.

Verified reviewLovely family run pension. Superb value for what you get. The room was very nice, the bathroom was modern (which can't be said for every place in Romania). The location was perfect, in the heart of the old town of Sighisoara, close to the Scholars' Steps (the famous medieval covered walkway). Staying overnight is a must, the town becomes so personal and private once all the day trippers leave.
Not much. It was excellent for what it is.

Verified reviewThis was a delightful stay, mostly because of the host. He was so kind and attentive. He makes his own wine and brandy and gave me several free servings! He escorted me to his favorite restaurant, which had quality food. My room was nice, and the building comes with a lovely courtyard. I loved the location in the old town. With the window open, I could hear the tourists outside, but it was quiet at night. Staying in the medieval town felt like a privilege, and I was glad to have spent several nights there instead of just visiting the town on a day trip.
All good.
Dear Becky, thank you for your lovely review and for choosing to stay at our place for your trip in Sighișoara. Best wishes, Teo&Klara

Verified reviewPerfectly located within the citadel walls, right by the covered staircase. It was also possible to drive in and drop off the luggage at the property, which saved us a lot of time and effort. The rooms were very clean and nicely prepared. The bed was super-comfortable and 2 separate duvets are provided. Temperature in the room can easily be adjusted, but we found it perfectly warm. Bathroom was clean and spacious, with a great shower and lots of toiletries provided. The host was one of the best parts of our stay. Hospitality was on point. Water and a snack were provided in the room. We also did a spirits and wine tasting in the cellar, which was a great experience, and got good recommendations for dinner and breakfast in the vicinity of the hotel. It was our second time here (first time 10 years ago) and we would definitely return again.
Everything was perfect.

Verified reviewWe travelled Romania for 3 weeks this time and this was our favourite place we stayed. We loved the central location, but it was still quiet and the courtyard was absolutely beautiful. The room/bathroom were impeccably clean and the bed/bedding were very comfortable. The air conditioning in the room was such a treat! The outdoor self serve coffee/tea/fridge area was amazing! We had the pleasure of meeting Teo and tasting some of his world famous Palinca. Such an amazing experience! Thank you!
There is nothing not to like here!
