How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Too many ants in the room and the room cooling was a problem
Dear Mehta, We thank your your candid review. Whilst we cannot be all things to everyone, we do try and the one area we take pride (and responsibility for) is cleanliness. Seychelles is a tropical island, insects are everywhere and in abundance. Per our conversation on insects, when I offered to spray insecticide as it would help for a couple of days, with the caution that we do not have access to safe European standard insecticides so we limit their use for health reasons. Your response was that killing of insects was against your beliefs. I then advised you to keep foods stored and watchout, for even a grain of sugar on the countertop will bring the ants. We clean and mop the chalets daily except on Sundays and Public Holidays, but Every Day (even on Sundays and Public Holidays) we empty the trash and put new trash bags in the bins to help keep the insects out. As for the air conditioner I do sympathize with you for there are days when I want my room to be 16C immediately, but we cannot keep our rates reasonable while paying for massive air conditioning units. You are the 2nd out of approximately 183 clients a year to complain about the air conditioning cooling speed. And uniquely the 1st during Seychelles’ coolest time of the year (I wish I could put a smily faced emoji here). Again we thank you for your candid feedback and hope you had a wonderful vacation in Seychelles. Regards

Verified reviewWe had a wonderful stay at this villa! The hosts are very kind and welcoming — always ready to help if needed. The rooms are clean and tidy, and the kitchen and bathrooms are also in excellent condition. A special thanks to the housekeeper — she is incredibly friendly and hardworking, like a real-life Cinderella 😊. Every time we came back to the villa, everything was spotless. When we asked for laundry service, she even folded everything so neatly. The villa itself has direct access to the ocean and a private beach — a real luxury. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a peaceful and comfortable place to relax!

Verified reviewWhen we first arrived i wanted to leave again. I felt it was in the middle of nowhere, property was worn out, and the beach was filled with seagrass. But i changed my mind and gave it a try. And i am very happy about that because it became a pleasant stay. The host Jack was very friendly and helpful, drove us to a restaurant when we arrived hungry and tired. He also drove us to anse Georgette. The stay became much better than first expected, we slept well and the villa was cleaned every day. The price was also very likable and that ment a lot. All in all we appreciated our stay at Amitie.
Distance from restaurants/village was too far. I would have preferred a more "social" area to stay at. We was told that the other side of the island was better at this time of year (november) with less seagrass on the beaches.

Verified reviewThe chalets were built between the owner's house and the beach and had pleasant gardens. Our chalet was very well thought out. A large bedroom with an octagonal roof. Two seating areas outside. A small but well-equipped kitchen. A shower and separate toilet. It was a short walk to restaurants. The bus stop was near by. The owner and staff were very helpful.

Verified reviewThis was a beautiful location. Located with their own beach. The owner was very friendly and cleaning lady was even more friendly. As a matter of fact, the cleaning lady makes it worth going back. She sat and talked with us for quite awhile. The rooms were very clean with the small individual touch of flowers scattered throughout the rooms. The grounds are one of the most beautiful sites I've seen. Resort like atmosphere with privacy. Amazing! The centralized room or kitchen was perfect.
Not much! Transportation around the island was a bit slow and crowded on the bus. When I first booked the room, I asked if it would be possible to rent a bike. The answer was yes, two doors down. That was a lie. As a matter of fact, bicycles were technically not allowed. However, I did see a couple of locals use them. Actually, the only mode of transportation recommended is the buses. However, these need to be seriously improved with scheduling and condition.

Verified reviewThe place is really amazing, private beach, as a very end of the world. You can see stingrays and small lemon sharks and a lot of crabs in the ocean at sunset time. 3 min walk is a nice beach bar.The sky at night is just amazing, and great experience was also to watch small planes. The owner was superkind. There is a bus stop 3 min walk, small shops 5 min walk. The challet had everything you need.
