How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewIt is a decent property, nothing extraordinary as it shows in pictures. We got an upgrade due to our special request.
Half Board is waste of money. Very disorganized and property managed. This is not right way of giving breakfast and dinner.
Dear Anil, Thank you for your review which means a lot to us. It is unfortunate that you missed the period when our beaches on our side of the island are without seaweed and very calm and clear sea. The best months for nice beaches are November to March. You can also read more about the climate of Seychelles and consider the monsoon and trade winds. This can help you choose the suitable time for you to come. Our property is simple nature inspired and eco-friendly that is why you may find it decent. One of our aims is for our guests to experience our true Creole culture. We were happy indeed to give you a free upgrade as you just got married despite it was a last-minute request. With regards to the breakfast and dinner, this is the way we have always done it. Maybe you could share with us what exactly went wrong. That will be more helpful to us. Anyway, it was a pleasure having you staying at Islander Hotel and I hope you got to explore Praslin. Finally, I can advise you that if ever you plan to visit Seychelles again, you find out more information about the islands for a better experience. We wish you all the best for the future. Regards, The Management and Staff

Verified reviewBeautiful location with its own private beach. No need to go to other beaches but everyone does? Room was very nice with everything you could need. Only soap provided so you need to bring everything else. Very comfortable bed. Staff were very friendly and we went half board which was a good call as there is not much around it and you need a car/taxi to go anywhere else. Dinners had a distinctly Indian flavour which we loved. Very relaxing

The beach wasn't the best. Very strong under current. If you walk past the nearby fabulous golf course. (Owned my Hotel Constance Lemuira) you come to a fab beach Anse Georgette.

Everything except one staff who was a bit rude… There is a need to train some of staff on communication with the clients.

We were half board but we didn't get a choice of what we ate. Not much vegetarian choices on the menu. Could have provided some balls, snorkelling equipment or bodyboards to keep guests entertained.
Dear Thomas, Thank you for taking time share your feedback with us. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed our location and also had a friendly experience with our staff. We were pleased to have you stayed with us. Thank you also for your suggestions about more vegetarian menu choices and equipment for beach activities. We strive to continue improving our services and facilities for our guests. We hope to see you both again next time you come to Seychelles. Verified reviewIt is very close to a small beach. The waiters are very kind and welcoming.
The atmosphere wasn’t very positive. The first thing staff said when I asked for beach towels was that we have to keep them for 4 days before we could get new ones. I don’t need to change every day but it’s so sandy and so moist there so they get very shabby after a day. When I called in advance to ask if they could help with transfer from airport the staff was quite rude and just said no. The breakfast didn’t include any dairy, meat or cheese. We had rice 7 days in a row for dinner. The house we stayed in was very basic. It was cleaned every second day.

Verified reviewThe Islander Hotel is located right next to the golf course of the Lemuria Hotel on the northwestern side of Praslin Island and is less a hotel then a self-catering bungalow location. We had a family bungalow for two persons which had two bedrooms, a kitchenette and a bathroom. The bungalow has been painted lately and is plain and functional. After a few hickups the aircon in one of the bedrooms has been replaced immediately and then worked normally. All rooms additionally have large fans. The staff is very friendly and all problems have been addressed immediately. There are a few chairs and tables right at the beach and we also went swimming in the sea although the weather was quite windy and waves came rolling in. However it is not forbidden to swim there, like some other reviews mentioned. You just have to swim at your own risk. But you'll find these warning signs at almost every beach on Praslin. There is a supermarket in walking distance to stock up on beer and food.
First thing we noticed is that the bungalow has not been very clean on our arrival. Bungalow was supposed to be cleaned every two days, but apparently the cleaning is very basic and most of the times only the towels have been changed. The second thing is that the kitchen equipment missed a few mayor things like a large pot to cook some pasta. The cutlery was just enough for the both of us so I'm not sure how this would work if a total of four persons would have stayed there. Cooking large dishes in this kitchen would definitely have been a challenge. Last but not least, the protective measures against insects could be improved. Although there are window glasses in front of the shutters in the bedrooms, the kitchen entry and the bathroom window are unprotected. Things can (and will!) fly through the shutters and crawl underneath the doors right into your bedroom, where I got quite a few mosquito bites during the night. Also, there were tiny ants in the kitchen even though we stored all food in the fridge and washed our dishes right after usage. It's true that the hotel is located right next to "the jungle" which is why it would be important to take measures against the things living in there. A few notes on the beaches nearby: while we were lucky and got acces to Anse Gorgette via the golf course, the Anse Kerlan and Petit Anse Kerlan are not accessible via the coast line. You have to get permission from the Lemuria Hotel, but we didn't try that. All in all we found ourselves driving to restaurants and beaches on the Cote d'Or quite often so we would have been better of staying on that side of Praslin (at least in October).
Dear Sir/Madam, Thank you for your nice review and for taking the time to share your feedback about your experience with us. Your feedback is very important to us. We would like to express our apologies for the few hickups and note that we try our utmost to make sure we provide a good service. We would like to wish you the very best for the future. The owner has three really big dogs that are running around on the property and beach freely the whole day. Especially with small kids you have to like it. we were scared. Cockroaches Everything in the kitchen very very old Not enough sun beds for the guests (8?)
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. While we are content to hear that you enjoyed our facilities & that your child enjoyed the baby cot provided, we are equally saddened to hear about your concerns only after you have left the property. Additional Sunbeds are made available for guests upon request, as we cannot leave 20 sunbeds out on the beach - due to overcrowding and for the prevention of theft, which has been a past experience of ours. Furthermore, our dogs are only released early morning and late evening. You stayed with us for 6 nights, Housekeeping could have been averted on your claim of cockroaches, however you did not inform us. We can only apologise for the inconvenience caused during your holiday.

The chalets are very close to each other and quite dark inside. The kitchen was equipped with very old/used appliances and smelled moldy. Poor lightning (except for bathroom where the lightshade was missing entirely).

Verified reviewI booked a superior one bed room, which consists of very good sized double bedroom, kitchen with microwave, grill, oven and hot plate and everything you need for your stay (including a kitchen table if you wish to eat indoors!), bathroom with double sinks and shower and a great patio with table and chairs. There are ceiling fans and air conditioning. Everything was spotlessly clean with daily cleaning and linen and towels were changed every two days. Miette and her team were great and Miette was able to arrange taxis and excursions for me as I needed them. The bungalows are opposite the on-site restaurant (which serves Creole style food all day) and adjacent to the private beach. There are local shops and a takeaway within 5-15 minutes walk (dependent on what you want). Apart from the hotel’s own beach, you are only a short walk away from Anse Georgette, which the guidebooks mark as one of the two best beaches on the island. It’s accessed via a luxury hotel, which houses the Seychelles only 18-hole golf course and is a beautiful walk in itself. You can also get the local bus (which stops outside the hotel) around the island to visit many of the other beaches and villages, including the UNESCO world heritage site of Valle de Mai. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Islander and am happy to recommend it to fellow travellers. Anse Kerlan is a quiet area of the island and ideal for a relaxing break, but you also have the option of easily visiting other areas should you wish.

Verified reviewThis place is georgous with private beaches right in the the resort. They have nice restaurant and food store is very close. Host and personnel were very helpful, they gave us a welcome drink and good tips and also arranged access thru other hotel to most beautiful beach on the island - Anse Georgette. They also grilled for us fresh fish we bought on the market :) Road to the Anse Georgette beach took us about 20-25 minutes by walk and with baby trolley, and it was experience since it goes thru beautiful nature of golf resort.

We booked a double bed, but got two single beds so we had to sleep separately. As we got the last room we did not have much choice so we accepted it. The kitchen is like camping, the minimum necessities are there.
