How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.

Verified reviewGreat little house, well located in Grand Anse, close to several restaurants and super markets. Very clean and well equipped, we did not miss anything. The thing we liked most was the great veranda to sit outside. Guy is an extremely kind and helpful host.

Verified reviewGoogle maps reports wrong location, but with the help of the host you will get there easily. The host make us find juices and milk in the fridge, which was very nice. Guy also helped us to find a reliable Taxi in Mahe (completely disconnected from our stay, just with the intent of helping his guests), which we appreciated a lot! Julita helped us with some contacts about boat trips.

Verified reviewSo many things to like (You'll want a car!)--We were delighted to find some staples already in the refrigerator for us when we arrived--Very thoughtful and kind! Also having a large fresh water tank was a huge bonus--Not to mention the ability to do laundry! The hosts, Guy and Julita were kind and always available if we had questions. Guy went the extra mile and helped us with ferrying extra luggage from and to the Ferry!! Lovely to be near the Church on a Sunday and listen to the church bells and choir...On Monday, it was nice to see the children at school and playing in the school yard.

Verified reviewOur hosts Guy & Julieta were kind and wonderful! They showed us around the property and explained everything in the villa. They were super helpful in arranging taxi service and advising about the area, and both were easily accessible if we needed anything throughout our stay.
Location is better suited if you rent a car. Taxis are expensive and there are not a ton of restaurants nearby.

the accommodation is on the quiet side of the island. this does not have to be a disadvantage but we did not know that. the most visited towns are cote dor and anse lazio

The moment we got in after a long journey we didn’t feel welcomed rather there was arguments about the booking I understand there was misunderstanding on both sides but the way the host speaks to us was very inappropriate. Our last day wasn’t great either again the host (julita) needs to improve with the way she speaks to people a bit unprofessional!

There was no arguments that you mentioned happened on your arrival at the Villa! JULITA who is the caretaker queried about the two extra guests in your group, which you didn’t like!! The booking was for 2 Adults and 3 children, but instead there was 4 Adults and 3 children! She had the right to ask!! Firstly, you didn’t want to give her access to enter the Villa for general cleanup after 3 days of your stay! You also broke the water cooler dispenser through your negligence after she showed you the type of water bottles to fix on the dispenser but you ignored her and forced other small bottles and thus broke it!! You left the house in a disgusting state, with rubbish all over the floor! I would like to point out that JULITA is a very respectable person who will always welcome and make sure that all guests staying at the Villa enjoy their stay! Refer to the previous reviews!! Crime seems to be something to be vigilant about in this areas - something that was not the case in our visit ten years ago - with metal grills needing to be using My nice flashlight went missing, probably stolen by someone as I forgot it somewhere on the property, probably outside.

The metal grill that you’re talking about is part of the security system put in place like most hotels and guests houses on the islands! Cameras and various security installations are everywhere in the world!! Your torch that you lost was left on the verandah at night and picked up by a passerby!! On your arrival/ check-in, you were briefed about the security etc of the place, but from my understanding you were not taking much attention! Thanks again for your review.

Verified reviewComfortable, very clean place with lots of outdoor space to chill. Friendly staff who let us check in earlier and check out later. Good location if you have a car. Villa is located quite far away from the most popular beach and ferry jetty. There is a beach across the street but full of rayfish. Restaurants and supermarkets around. We would highly recommend staying at the villa if you have a car.
