Parking locations were a bit hard to work out & there seems to be a problem with noisy neighbours. The rooms come with ear plugs - which were needed!

Good budget alternative for a single traveler like me. Shared facilities were fine. Room was adequate for a night or two and I didn’t find it stuffy even though the window wasn’t reachable. The people I had contact with at the reception were helpful and polite.

Towels - nice if you could have it changed - and if not on request. Pillow....well not very much supportive (too soft).

The location and experiencing different accommodation as in a fort. Double room w/view was just big enough for two with a sink to do your morning/evening routines and access to water. Room nice, well maintained and quiet with an area/surroundings for good walks and just for a stroll around.

We liked it all, but just realize that if you book this, it is more like a youth hostel style stay then a hotel. Especially because the bathrooms are shared bathrooms. Also the opening hours for the reception is only later in the afternoon, if you arrive earlier then you cannot enter your room or leave your bags (as they do not share the codes during the day, only after closing of the reception).

Gorgeous location, really nice to stay in the fortress in general and sleeping in a prison is quite exceptional, we really enjoyed it. It is very quiet in the nights. It is walking distance to the lovely city centre. Staff was very helpful to offer us a place for our bicycles.

The room was rather for a prisoner experience and very modest,the original doors of the room gave a grumpy feeling. The house is a bit noisy and shared premises are not always maintained clean by other guests.

The location is spectacular, with old and well preserved history, next to the sea. The premises of the prison were rather for an experience for me but the rest of the hotel is very cosy and traditional style. the breakfast is very nice, which you can have outside with a fortress view. It is very quiet around.

The hostel has a beatiful view on the sea if you take a room on the first floor and on the sea side. It gives you a feeling of staying in a prison.

Something different but still comfortable. Middle between hostel and hotel. Quirky prison rooms. As others have commented, 2 toilets and 2 showers for potentially over 20 guests is pushing it. Plenty common room space and good kitchen facilities, though. Wonderful location in Castle grounds and right next to bathing beach, sea pool and historic bathing spa. Great location for cycle tourists right on the Kattegatt Leden with cycle storage in a locked garage which, strangely enough, the owners don't seem to advertise.

Breakfast was not available to us because we had to leave too early.

It was a neat experience to stay within the fortress walls with an incredible view, to boot. We enjoyed exploring the grounds, but regret that we were visiting too late to pop into the museum! We wish we could have stayed longer!
