Ended up staying 3 nights. Enjoyed myself a lot in Karlstad. It wasn't that busy on my floor so sharing the bathroom was fine.

Wi-Fi coverage is bad in some areas/room which are far away from the Wi-Fi acess router. This can easily be solved by having a second router at the other end of the floor.

Located just a couple of minutes walk from the city center and forest area for leisure activities as well make this a perfect stay. The staff is friendly and check-in/out works without any problems provided with good communication before arrival. Cleanliness is good and anything was well maintained. The room was spacious, good lightning, table and chairs and a rack for your clothing. Due to the age of the building and usage of wooden floor you will hear your neighbor walking but nothing else. No problems to get a good night sleep. The kitchen is well equipped and have a big sitting area as well. All-in-all I had a nice stay at this hostel.

The bathrooms have seen better days. Some of the showerheads couldnt stay up. Some of the shower rooms had a little mold. There were badly-patched holes in the walls of the bathrooms. Wifi wasn't able to support a video call.

Staff were able to provide me with allergy-friendly alternatives for the breakfast buffet. Female-only dorm was available. Big, clean kitchen with storage space and refridgerators. Best hostel kitchen I have ever seen.

On our floor was only one toilet/shower combo. It was fine, but if you need a quick toilet break while someone else is showering, it is a little troublesome. But it was nice and clean!

The staff was very helpful and friendly over the phone and during our stay. Breakfast was excellent for the price, and there were even extra vegetarian items!

There was a big foreign team staying for trainings and / or competitions, they seemed to live (all of them), in the kitchen, all the tme. After all, it's a sports Hostel next to sports infrastructures...

Staff is really helpful and friendly - they offered a cup of morning coffee, for example. Directions and info about the city, including clever grocery shopping, are great. The building is just amazing, you can't miss it! And the inside is clean, tidy, confortable. There's a big shared kitchen with lots of utensils and cooking devices. Great shower and lots of bathrooms per floor. I was lucky enough to be alone in my dorm, it was such a rest after a much worse experience elsewhere!

Ventilation system was loud, bathrooms were weirdly shaped and a bit dirty, staff was a bit unfriendly, bed linen and towels cost extra.

The only thing I can think of is that there weren’t any proper sinks available, and only limited number of showers. Of the later the condition and state weren’t the greatest either. But for me it was a minor detail, sleeping comfort, and kitchen working area goes above everything. Another downfall, it’s about a 25 min walk from the train station, so for some people it might be too far of a walk.

the building is stunning, they have a large common kitchen and enough fridge and storage room for everyone’s food (all rooms have their own designated shelf). and above all the rooms are large, and no bunkbeds! I slept amazing in a 5 female dorm room, which could easily have been a 12 people dormitory. But I’m im so happy that this wasn’t the case, it leaves the grandeur of the rooms in tact, and bunkbeds would have change the atmosphere and quality of this hostel in an instant.

It wasn't clean. The blanket was stinking (that I had paid extra). At night someone got in the room and he wanted to sleep there, without he has booked this room.

A lovely big old institutional building, feels like boarding school, done up well, with wide corridors and flights of stairs. All very smooth for check in (self) and check out. I chose it to avoid paying Oslo prices. The town is very pleasant, and I'm glad I stopped there where normally I would have sped through on the train
