How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWhen we arrived, I wrote to the owner and he came right away. He showed us around the house and inside the apartment. He told us where everything is, and he also has a suggestions on what to do and where to go. Our stay was absolutely wonderful! The location is perfect – close to the sea, with grocery stores, a DM drugstore, and restaurants all within walking distance or just a short drive away. We stayed for 7 days with our 3 dogs, and they also had plenty of space. Just a few steps from the apartment there is a grassy area for walking them, and we also discovered several beautiful dog-friendly beaches in and around Izola. We especially recommend Strunjan – Mesečev Zaliv (12 minutes by car) and Seča (18 minutes by car). The apartment itself is comfortable and the kitchen is fully equipped (except for a stove), but there is a gas grill outside that we could use anytime, which was very convenient. The owner was very kind and welcoming, and made sure we had everything we needed.
The only small downside was that the Wi-Fi occasionally dropped in the evenings or early mornings, but otherwise everything was perfect. We truly enjoyed our stay and would love to come back.

Verified reviewLocation - not far from the sea, rather quiet if you don't mind occasional barking of a dog. Terrace - if you can use it. We could not because of the mosquitos and smoking neighbours...
The kitchen was tiny, dark and old, the same was the bathroom. The apartment was full of mosquitoes. Take some repellent for the summer stay. The AC unit was useless as it was only in the kitchen so the 2 bedrooms were hot...opening windows did not help. The pillows feel empty
Let me say that I initially did not intend to respond to your comment. However, I think that for an objective presentation to future guests, some facts need to be explained. The kitchen is not new, it is maintained with a new induction hob, dishes and all other kitchen utensils, it has a normal large window with a mosquito net. Yes, you read that right, our apartment has mosquito nets on all windows, all you have to do to keep mosquitoes out of the apartment is to close the front door and the terrace door. The apartment is equipped with a quality air conditioning unit from the leading manufacturer Mitsubishi, which can easily cool a 40 m2 apartment in just over half an hour. All you would have to do is close the door and turn on the air conditioning, but apparently this would be too much of a summer challenge for you. The biggest stupidity, in my opinion, is mentioning your neighbor's smoking on his terrace, which is supposed to disturb your stay on the 16 m2 terrace. The gentleman spent most of his time outside the apartment on the beach with his family. In short, thank you for your visit, I hope you will have more luck in choosing your accommodation in the future and fewer summer challenges.

Verified reviewThe apartment is situated a nice area close to the beach and shops. The centre isn't far either.
There were a lot of mosquitoes and was no net on the windows. We missed the microwave oven. The beds were unconfortable.
Monika always with a smile on her face. It's a shame that you didn't tell me that you needed a microwave, there really wasn't one in the apartment. But we have it, and I would bring it to you immediately. I hope you will visit Izola again.

Verified reviewOur host Metod was probably the most helpful and kind person we've met during our stay in Slovenia. The apartment itself was freshly renovated (March 2023) and included everything we needed. I couldn't recommend this accommodation enough! :)

Verified reviewLocation was perfect, the owner was really nice and friendly, he gave us bottle of local wine as a gift :) it is very near to the sea (10 min) and also to the centre (15-20 min walking). Bus stop to Piran is 5 min walking. There are restaurants and caffees near by, supermarket is 10 min walking. Apartment is newly renovated, it was clean with quite lot of space.
There was no sun in the apartment, but it can be good in the summer, there will be not so hot... and of course there is airconditioning. Bed was not very comfortable, but it depends on the person.
Thank you, satisfied guests really mean a lot to us.
