How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Verified reviewThe balcony and the location were fine. Free parking space next to the apartment was convenient.
There were bedbugs in the bed. After two days here we both got small red bumps which itch a lot, it only got worse in the next 2 days. After our stay the bumps slowly disappeared. The owner didn't offer any support or compensation, while the main thing you pay for is a clean bed to sleep in. Which, clearly, was not provided here. The kitchen doesn't have an extractor hood. So if you prepare a meal the entire apartment is filled with smoke. Also, there is no freezer. The airconditioning is located in the living room. To cool the bedroom you have to open all the doors and even then it takes a long time to cool. The shower is small. Me (1.83m) couldn't comfortably wash myself in there. If you are even taller or somewhat heavier build, it will be even more difficult.

Such is a serious claim and must also be substantiated; of which you have no grounds for. We said goodbye in person at your exit. We asked if you were satisfied: you answered; "yes". When you got home you claimed to have bed bug bites on your body. That evening you sent us an email stating clearly to us, that we would get a bad review if we didn't reimbursed travel expenses. You confirmed your intention with a phone call to us the next day. The apartment was professionally inspected for bed bugs. The result was negative. Even conducting a survey of the guests who stayed in the same apartment after your departure showed no bed bug bites. This is Verifiable. We told you this, and because we do not agree with your threat. Instead you carried out your plan and gave us a bad review. In your review, you have stated, that you noticed itchy bed bug bites already on the second day, which worsened in the following days. What is right? Without any complaints from you, even though we saw each other every day. And you spent two more nights in the same bed. Your statement is very doubtful. Of course, we passed on your method of extortion, so that in the future other landlords will be warned of your skim,and will classify you as unwelcome guests. Too expensive for the location( far away from the lake), cups/pan/moka pot had residues (not completely clean). No response from the host regarding leaving additional bedsheet (no bedsheet was left and no response given).

Normally we do not comment on our guest's surveys, but in your case I will be glad to provide one. The claim that cups/pans and mokka pot were not found clean is presumptuous. I personally checked the cleanliness. You have booked 2 nights for 2 people. After the official check-in the first morning and asked if everything was OK and you said yes. Regarding fresh bed sheets I would also have provided you with one., if you only have asked. Obviously you needed them for another person after your first male acquaintance had left. For location of our apartments,, I would like to recommend that you use "Google Maps" for future bookings. Here you can quickly and easily see our location. Verified reviewSpacious apartment with excellent facilities and restful garden surroundings. Whilst the owners live at the property they were inconspicuous but were there and very friendly and helpful when we needed them.
The only drawback was the property is a little way out from Bled and parking in Bled is a nightmare. It was very hot when we were there so the walk into Bled probably seemed longer than it was.
