How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewLarge apartment above a restaurant on a quiet tree-lined street. The apartment was surprisingly large, clean, and the kitchen has basic utensils etc. The neighborhood is residential, and about a 20 - 25 mins walk to the old center. The bed was firm, which was a dream for my back! The fridge was a great size and really kept our drinks and such cold. (It may be unplugged when you arrive.)
More of an FYI: The employees at the restaurant speak very little English and have little to do with the apartments above. Please *call* Peter, the host, before arriving to get check-in instructions. He's on WhatsApp so fees weren't incurred.

Verified reviewIt is not far from the city's historical center, and a restaurant is located on the premises. The room and bathroom are clean, also the kitchen is. well-equipped for basic food preparation. Not for cooking.
It's not that I don't like it, just be aware that the restaurant is open until 10:00 PM, but the kitchen closes at 8:00 PM. If you're late, you'll need to go to the city center, which is about 20 minutes on foot.

Antennas on the roof make you a little u comfortable.

Verified reviewThe guest house is about 5 km from its reception. The room was gloomy with only a small window, and there was no place to sit in the kitchen. The description mentioned a kettle and a microwave, but they weren't there. The cleaning was poorly done, with marks and stains everywhere. But the worst part was the smell. It was impossible to stay in the room because of the strong smell of food with a lot of spices, which must have been cooked there frequently.
Dear mr. Vitali, you booked a room, not appartment. In booked room you also have had kittchenette with a cofee mashine, tea maker and stove top ! Yes, you are right, there was no mikrowaeve as we installed stove top instead ,to even improve our rooms. About the smell: you mentioned it smells after some food with spices - how come, if there is no device to cook on , as you mentioned ? Most hotel rooms around the world have ussualy one window. Ours is a regular sized, not a small one. Might be this review that bad as you want to come much earlier and we could not let you in ? We have to clean rooms properly for next guests to come. Check in time is for all the same, regardless of nationality ! reception

Verified reviewChecking need to be done in a different hotel at 4,2 km from House Parma in the suburb of Maribor. The level of cleanness of the apartment was limited: the floor was not vacuum cleaned and pieces of chocolate of the previous guest were still on the kitchen top.

About service; you booked at a a guest house: means our service is great food and nice, big rooms. In guest houses you hardy find some swiming pools ! Some people do understand and some dont. It depends on the personality. We are always trying to do our best.

We booked a room with kitchen for 3 people and paid in advance. When we arrived for the check-in the owner shamelessly lied and told us we booked for 2 people and gave us a room without kitchen and just one bed. He also told us we needed to pay extra to get the room we had already booked and paid in advance.
Dear guest, you booked a double bed room. This means the room for two adults and max. 1 child up to 6 years in the bed with parents. Yes you got one bed - king size bed !!! Some of our rooms have the kitchenetts as upgrade of the room. We do not have appartments ! You insist to have 3 beds, this means you have to pay the difference in room category. And yes, you have paid also the tourist tax, wich can not be paid through booking.com channel. And thx for such abed review, especially as we have waited for you over check in time for almost one hour !!! kind regards

Verified reviewSpacious comfortable and well equipped room with bathroom in a very nice building on a very nice street in Maribor. The restaurant downstairs is good, we had a very nice italian meal there.
We had to go for check out to another property which was located good 10-15 mins drive. The city centre is 20 - 25 mins walking distance.
