Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandSome of the staff were lovely and helpful, some were gruff and grumpy. The bunks were not flush to the wall nor enclosed and no bunk light or shelf so there was always the worry of possessions slipping off and falling, even yourself! No power outlets in bedroom but lots in the common area.
Location is near a pretty park in a leafy suburb so it's aways from centre (30m walk). There's an excellent varied rec area inside with places for both socials and anti-socials to chill. Large secure luggage room for all sizes of bags and private large lockers can be rented. Lockers in rooms are on small side.

FinlandNeeds more working washrooms for the number of people hosted on each floor. In summer, the dorms can get stuffy. It would be better to put a fan or air conditional as the weather is getting warmer these days.
It was close to the railway station. It has 24-hour check-in. Rooms were good for the price. Helpful staff. Ample space outside of the dorms, to chill.

United KingdomThe space where I got allocated only got 2 shower and toilet facility sharing among more than 20 beds. The 3rd shower room was out of service, and being such a big franchise with multiple hostels in other major cities, it's a shame that the shower was out of service for more than 3 days. One of the other 2 working showers was flooding as well. Poor cleanliness overall. The bed space was full of dust.
The location is perfect. Got all facilities such as washing, kitchen and bar as well

IrelandThe sink in the bathroom was clogged and the water drained very slowly. One of the roller blinds covering the window did not work (there was no possibility of raising it). I booked a private room and expected there to be a towel in the bathroom like in all hotels, but there wasn't because it's a hostel. And most importantly, the room has very poor soundproofing and when someone takes a shower in the next room, it's as noisy as if it's in your room with the door open.
I liked that there was a kitchen where you could cook, a washing machine (5€) and a good location.

France- the management process: we booked private room with double bed but we got the two single bed in the third floor without any elevator. It was hard to climb up with the 29inch 40kg luggage. There is no remote control for the AC in the room. If you want to turn on/off or adjust the function you need to climb down to the -1 floor at the reception the go back to your room and come back to return it at the reception which is very non sense and quite annoying. - the fee for leaving your luggage after check out. Even though you leave it just an hour after check out you need to pay the full price.
The location is good. The place is quite clean. Good enough with the price. It’s good for overall.

United Arab EmiratesThere were no power sockets for the upper bunk beds, which is inconvenient
The best part of this hostel is that it’s very close to the main train station, and you can even walk to the Old Town in about 20 minutes — I really loved this convenience. Honestly, I also liked that the hostel is surrounded by lots of greenery, which is something that really appeals to me. However, the room setup — especially in the 8/12-bed dorms — could be improved. There were no power sockets for the upper bunk beds, which is inconvenient for budget travelers like me who need to charge phones or power banks. The room also felt quite hot and a bit congested, and I’m not sure why. Even though it’s an old building with an apartment-style layout, the hostel could put a bit more effort into improving its facilities. Also, they charged an extra city tax that wasn’t clearly mentioned during the booking, which was a surprise. Overall, I’d say it was an average stay. It's a decent budget-friendly option thanks to its excellent location — very close to the main train, tram, and bus stations. However, note that the FlixBus and other long-distance bus terminals are a bit farther away and require a separate bus ride. The atmosphere around the hostel is lovely, with lots of greenery and a vintage feel, which I really enjoyed. But one disappointing part was the lack of nearby supermarkets — you need to walk a bit to reach one. Also, the area is quite dead at night, and it’s hard to find street food or any open food places, which I found a bit sad.

I liked that the staff spoke English and where there all day. They where very helpful. I liked the price of the hostel and got what you expected. The location was amazing 5 minutes from old town.

RomaniaThe desk lady was not so welcoming. The plug in my room on my part didn't work well, there was just one for 2 people and it electrocuted a girl before me who was there, she told me not to use it but they didn't solve it after her complain. The showers could have been tidier.
The affordability of the stay. The fact that as student I didn't have to pay the tax on the booking. The modern facilities of the property. That it was kind of close to the city center. Very comfortable beds with curtains.

HungaryOnly issue we had was with the air ventilation. The AC was leaking inside and was dripping water in to the room. We couldnt open the windows as there was some plant covering half the window with many bugs. So overall we had very limited/no option to have fresh air in the room.
Good value for price in a great location which is easily accesible.
