How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewLocation is near a pretty park in a leafy suburb so it's aways from centre (30m walk). There's an excellent varied rec area inside with places for both socials and anti-socials to chill. Large secure luggage room for all sizes of bags and private large lockers can be rented. Lockers in rooms are on small side.
Some of the staff were lovely and helpful, some were gruff and grumpy. The bunks were not flush to the wall nor enclosed and no bunk light or shelf so there was always the worry of possessions slipping off and falling, even yourself! No power outlets in bedroom but lots in the common area.

Verified reviewClose to the train station and easy to find, good price
Not a big choice of breakfast options (just sandwich variations, no eggs and etc.), no elevator in the 3 floor building, not really comfortable for travelling with the luggage, no physical dividers between beds on the same level, so my neighbor opened the dividing curtain and disturbed me

Verified reviewThe location and the room was clean.
The bathroom wasn‘t that clean, but I guess this was because two of three were temporarily out of function.

Verified reviewThe location was fab? Close to train station and public transport but also close enough to wander into the city on foot. The beds have curtains providing privacy which was nice.
Unfortunately the soap in the toilets was never filled or provided & the lights are in a very short sensor so if you end up showering in the dark.

Verified reviewReally clean bathrooms, Comfortable beds, good privacy with the curtains around each bed, plenty of space in the room, friendly staff and good location.
Shouldn’t have to pay to use the kitchen.

Clean less is not maintained, specially in the first floor, where am, my room was alerted although I called the receptionist on the first floor about the not cleaning of area and getting the wrong smell because of it, but no solution was provided
Dear Guest, thank you for letting us know about your stay here! We're sorry you found our bathrooms and floors not up to your standards at the time. We clean them several times a day, but sometimes it does happen that they get wet, especially during bathroom rush hours in the evening when 20+ people use them in a row. Regardless, thank you for your feedback, it helps us improve in the future :) Best wishes, receptionist Robert.

Verified reviewIt was close to the railway station. It has 24-hour check-in. Rooms were good for the price. Helpful staff. Ample space outside of the dorms, to chill.
Needs more working washrooms for the number of people hosted on each floor. In summer, the dorms can get stuffy. It would be better to put a fan or air conditional as the weather is getting warmer these days.

Verified reviewThe beds are comfortable and the rooms are of decent size. Breakfast is good.
I stayed on the first floor and only one bathroom was in service, out of three in that floor. It was not clean. There are additional charges for towels, luggage, and even to use the kitchen. The people at the desk are not particularly friendly, although they do their job.
Dear Guest, We're glad you shared your thoughts. If you have any other feedback, please don't hesitate to contact us. Sincerely, Safestay team

Verified reviewEverything except stuff and some other guests.
Stuff leading by manager, which has got in his head a calculator instead of brain. I'll write you an example: I was eating my lunch in common area inside the hostel, where sudenly a strange cat came to me jumped up near my table and start to looking on my food. I didn't know where from is this cat, so I pushed her down with my leg. This saw one of the guest a rumunian girl, which was pretending that she is italian, but this kind of "behaviour" is a very common thing what takes these people. She went to reception, where been this time also a manager and this guy came to me and something about 20 times kept asking me to go with him on reception to solve if I have reservation in this hostel or not, despite that I showed him my card for openig the door and my ID, he still forced me to go with him, by threating me with security and that he will cancel me my reservation, if finaly I have some, cause "he can do this". You know it is already a long time from when I feel in my own country as a renegate, cause my view on life is totaly different then majority of slovakian people and I didn't want to have any problem there, cause I know very good how they are "solving", I just stood up and went with him. After he checked my reservation and gave me back my card and ID, I told him to rather consider if he wants to providing accomodation for people or keeping a pets, including sociopat people. He then start again suspiciouing me that I want to make a problem. So I said to him: You can complaing about me, threating me and I cannot?! What's that approach is about?! Anyway make your privite opinion by yourself. I'll never ever come back to this ...
