How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewI stayed at Penzión Ingrid during my trip across Slovakia and it was one of the best value-for-money places I found. The location is great, just a few steps from the cog railway, and the rooms are clean, quiet, and comfortable. A special mention goes to the young man at the reception – he knows a lot about the area and gave me excellent tips for trips. With the warm hospitality and cozy atmosphere, this pension offers a unique balance of comfort and price. I would happily return here again.

Verified reviewI’ve had the most wonderfull holiday here, one of the best i even had. The penzion is located on a quiet road between the town of Strba and the mountains, only a two minute walk from a small trainstation. Tickets come at €6,- for the entire day, along the south-eastern part of the tatra mountains which is much cheaper than the parking lot’s. Don’t worry about potential noise as there’s none. The penzion is clean and well maintained. Bedrooms come with a balcony to relax and offer a nice view of the garden and it’s surroundings and due to all the wooden touches leave the impression you’re staying in a modern cabin in the woods. The beds were perfect and provided a welcome support after exhausting days of hiking. Breakfast is fresh and offers a wide range of options. The owners, a mother and son, are lovely and honest people who do what they can to support and guide you through your holiday in the amazing mountainous area. I’ve had many talks with the son in english about a wide range of subjects and interests, truly a great guy who loves to take care of people and likes his job. Any advice about which hiking trails to pick best can be provided, or other places to visit if you wish to explore other parts of this wonderfull country. Since the main highway from eastern to western Slovakia is only a couple of minutes driving away, the penzion offers a wide range of options. There’s the regional hiking in the tatra mountains of course, which has one of the most stunning views to offer in all of Europe. The country has the highest castle per capita ratios in the world, so pick your favourite, fully restored or visit one of the ruins that brings back memories of it’s medieval past. There’s the beautifull cities of Bratislava in the west and Kosice in the east to visit. Driving through this country is wonderfull as well. People drive calm and thoughfull and due to all the different altitudes it’s a really fun experience and offers many spectaculair views along the way.

Verified reviewOutstanding Stay – Highly Recommended! Our holiday at this hotel was fantastic! The hospitality was exceptional—warm and genuine. The food was delicious- we ordered the burgers and fries. And the hosts were incredibly helpful, even taking the time to guide us through city highlights and nearby trails. A special thanks to Joseph for taking such great care of us. Highly recommend this gem for anyone looking for comfort, great food and top notch service.

Verified reviewFriendly and helpful staff (be prepared to use google translate). Daily cleaning kept the room tidy and neat. Location is right next to the train station (unfortunately only hourly trains to Strbske Pleso though). Large room where I was able to spread out. Large bathroom as well, with a decently sized shower. Beautiful view from my window. Great price for the comfort level.
Hourly trains to Strbske Pleso make planning your mornings an essential. Walls definitely on the thinner side, on my 3rd night I heard my noisy neighbors check in and have a little party.

Verified reviewsuper location, tram station to Strbske Pleso is 2 min walk (in fact, 20-25 min, because of there is a beer point halfway ;)) in general, this accomodation fully satisfies us.
There is no soap dish in the shower. We lack a little fridge, too.

Verified reviewOur visit was during peak season, and we found the cost-quality ratio to be quite optimal. We were fortunate to have been allocated a spacious room that included its own terrace. Several positive aspects about our stay include: - Comfortable mattresses that weren’t overly soft. - Sizeable rooms housed in a separate apartment. - Availability of a kitchenette and kitchen for preparing light meals. - Convenient location close to the train station, yet providing quietude and great air quality. - Proximity to a few delicious restaurants and a small supermarket providing most of the essentials. - Ease of access to neighboring towns via train. - Hospitable and amiable staff. - A delightful breakfast spread for a week-long stay. - Access to private parking facilities.
Personally, I don't favor carpeted floors :)
