How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewPros: • Excellent location, close to public transportation and major tourist attractions. • Several bars and restaurants nearby for convenience. • Walking distance to the main nightlife area. • Room was clean and well-organized.
Cons: • Curtains did not block the sunlight well, so the room got very bright early in the morning. • Poor sound insulation – traffic and nighttime noise could be clearly heard.

there was pub under window, and whole this location was busy long after midnight. No air conditioning in room and unbearable noise with opened windows until it finally calmed down Son insisted to mention that his pillow was very uncomfortable. But I had that same and I had not any problem with it.

Uncomfortable bed pillows, unsafe elevator

Verified reviewThe breakfast was good, offering a wide variety of options. The room was comfortable, though the bathroom was rather average.
Overall, the offering did not live up to the price point. While certain aspects were acceptable, the overall quality and experience fell short of what one would reasonably expect given the cost.

Verified reviewIt is located close to the old town, so the sights are within easy reach on foot.
We had hot weather during our stay, and had no air conditioning (we were informed about it beforehand) in our rooms so we could not sleep peacefully at night because of the heat. The beds were too soft. The pension has its own parking place but we could not reserve one as it was full. So you can only count on a parking place in the nearby streets.

Verified reviewThe Pension is very well located, a few minutes walk from the Old City Center. The room was clean and the breakfast also good.
The attitude of the reception staff was not friendly and we encountered problems with parking. We were told that the parking lot was full, although at the time of booking on booking it was mentioned that no prior reservation was needed and it was not specified that the parking lot was available depending on availability. So, we chose the guesthouse taking into account that we had parking at the guesthouse, insured, for the amount of about 15 euros/night. However, when we arrived at the guesthouse we were told that we did not have a reservation and that the parking lot was full, offering us another parking space that was 6 euros/night more expensive.

The parking is absolutely terrible. I’m extremely disappointed – it’s not marked properly at all, which made the whole experience very frustrating. There were two receptionists who didn’t help me at all and were unwilling to find me an alternative for parking. They didn’t care and were unfriendly.

Verified reviewWe did not actually get to stay at the hotel. One of our party is a wheelchair user. Prior to booking we called and asked if the hotel was accessible for a wheelchair user. We were told yes. When I booked through booking.com, I requested a groundfloor room as we have a wheelchair user. We were told that there was no ground floor room for 3 persons (we booked a triple room) but there was a lift which could take the wheelchair user up to the second floor . So we booked it. When we arrived at the hotel the lift was tiny. It could hardly fit one person with their lugguage, let alone a person in a wheelchair. Not sure what they thought a wheelchair looked like. We were not asked any questions about the size of the wheelchair when booking. We were told there was a lift which could take the wheelchair user to the right floor. We could not stay at the hotel as there was no way we could get the wheeelchair into the lift. The manaher was requested and did not have the common decency to come out to speak to us. The person on the desk did find another room at an alternative sister hotel and we had to oay 125 euros extra. Absolutely disgusting!!!!
The manager come out to apologise, and the hotel pay the extra cost for a new booking.

As you arrived late on a Friday evening and as I do not work on a 24/7 basis, it was unfortunately not possible for me to attend in person at that moment. Nevertheless, our front desk team did their best to assist you immediately, while being on phone on call with me, by securing suitable accommodation at a 4* apartment hotel the very same night for all your 5 nights. We do not advertise our property as wheelchair-accessible on our Booking.com profile. You mentioned that you had called prior to booking to confirm accessibility; however, I did not receive any such information. While we do our best to inform guests accurately, it is not always possible for us to know whether a specific wheelchair model will fit into our lift, especially without prior details on its dimensions. That said, we have taken note of your feedback, and our team has now been trained to ask for more specific information regarding wheelchair size and accessibility requirements in the future, even though we do not advertise our accommodation as wheelchair accessible. This will help us avoid such situations and proactively advise guests if our facilities might not be suitable. Even though the circumstances were beyond our full control, we sincerely apologise for the distress this situation caused you and your party. Verified reviewVery nice place to stay to visit Bratislava,very close to the centre and easy to walk from to see the city.Room was very spacious,we stayed with 2children( age 8and 12) Our room had a little kitchenette which we didnt get to use ,only made some coffe but if you were staying for longer it is a nice option to have a fridge and a little place to cook something.Breakfast was very nice too.Lovely ,friendly and helpful staff at the reception.We chose to book a parking space for the car with them and it was a good idea as it is really close to the main atractions and trying to find a street parking could have been a problem.
