How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe location is good. Just a few meters from the bus stop.
The major problem with this hostel is that there's only one toilet and one bathroom. Even if you book a separate room, you have to use the shared bathroom. So when the hostel is full of guests, it becomes a big problem. Also, the girls use the mirrors in the toilet or bathroom for doing their makeup, and it takes a long time, making you have to wait. Maybe providing a mirror in every room and in the dorm will solve this.

Verified reviewIt was easy access, pretty straight forward. In this price, it's fine for staying for a day or 2. I just needed to crash for the night, so it worked for me.
There is only 1 shower and toilet for the whole accommodation. I think it is mostly a few people here, but still that can affect you a bit I guess.

Verified review- self check in means you have to read instructions carefully and you can check in earlier than conventional 3pm compared to other places - appreciate the privacy curtains - guest kitchen, ability to cook own meals - towels free and provided
- it’s an airbnb apartment style ‘hostel’ managed by volunteers so communication may be all over the place - only 1 toilet and 1 shower for the entire apartment (6 bunk beds, 3 private rooms) - location far from the old town (had to take bus) - unable to wear shoes (ie bare-feet) in the house

Verified reviewNothing
Everything. DO NOT STAY HERE. Dirty tissues all over the floor. Dead bugs also over the room, chewing gum left on surfaces - no cleaning what so ever done in the room. Mouldy food in the kitchen. Completely unsanitary. No workers there at all. Unsafe and scary environment for female travellers. When this was brought to the attention via phone number provided, no responsibility at all was taken. Avoid this property at all costs - a complete scam and totally filthy. All facilities and activities mentioned are not present or available on arrival. Did not stay even 1 night - had to find somewhere new.

Verified reviewThere's a reason the place is so cheap. My standards are pretty low, but this is a place that won't be visited again. Only avoids a lower score because of the cost

Verified reviewThe hostel was small and peaceful. It was very clean and the beds were very comfortable and have blackout curtains. The two volunteers, Hannah and Raj were so lovely and welcoming. The area is calm and quiet. The location isn't quite central but the hostel is close to the bus stop and the buses were regular and cheap and it is only a short ride into the centre, or 30 minute walk.
Though there were lockers in the room, there were no keys for the locks

Verified reviewHad all the amenities you could hope for as a traveller, at a cost though
Very far from tourist attractions, no door on the dorm room to separate from rest of house, staff staying in dorm room and coming in very late and loudly talking to each other, also watching tv loudly until late hours, very very little security and felt very unsafe as a solo traveller

Verified reviewOnly the courtain in the bed
The walking distance from the city centre is very far and absolutely not convenient if you're planning to go back to the city after you reach the hostel. There's a lot of hills and stairs to reach the street of the Hostel( that is just one apartment converted in a acomodation). There's no name or sign outside, very hard to find. They send you the info for a self check in, but is confused and not accurate. The shared room have lockers but none of them works, so you can't leave your personal belongings safe. The atmosphere is rare and impersonal, I wouldn't recommend to stay here. The location is just a in residential part of the city with nothing around. After I arrived in there, I decided to find another hostel (a real hostel)in the city centre, near of all the city attractions, supermarket, bars and restaurants.

Verified reviewI wasn’t able to check in as the place is non existent and the phone number on the accommodation doesn’t reach
They could have at least let me know that it doesn’t accommodate. Waste of time and money
