How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewIn particular the staff made La Cabane extremely welcoming and comfortable for us - thank you! Our room was very comfortable and large, overlooking the beach full of locals doing sports, heading out to surf or fish, or swimming. The hotel guests seemed to mostly be surfers, and we felt this place was a welcome mini-oasis away from the hustle of Dakar. We would strongly recommend La Cabane for anyone looking to enjoy a local and relaxed atmosphere with less frills and more sand between the toes.
We would have loved some fruit as part of the breakfast offering! : )

Verified reviewThe staff and the location (literally on the beach). Khalil was adorable, welcoming and funny from the moment we met. Later, I also met the owners who were very helpful to me. I had an urchin incident, my foot was painful and infected and they were so helpful.
I truly missed some sunbeds as they only have chairs. I didn’t really want to go find sunbeds at other establishments but I had to.

Verified reviewThis is a little oasis with beachfront and high-quality seafood restaurant inside Dakar, Ngor is a stone-throw away, and you can take a cap for 10‘ to reach the Beach Clubs and Surfer Scene of Almadies. The service was excellent, here special rewards to Khalil.
There is no pool, but it is not necessary, as the beach is in front of the hotel.

Verified reviewThe food in the property is great! The rooms are also quite good. For a decent price I was able to get a small apartment. The view is just amazing as it is right in front of the beach.
The property can be noisy. The restaurant downstairs in an open planing hence you could feel the lack of privacy around. It is not a conventional hotel as you would think.

Verified reviewVery nice location directly at the beach. Nice rooms.
Rather on the expensive side for poor service. Specially breakfast is quite expensive and wasn’t included in our room price. Omelette is EXTRA, so we had to pay even more to top up the breakfast. Bad point is the staff: only hanging around, quite unfriendly, no wish to communicate. The person standing at the bar didn’t even bother me and on my request she gave me no good information. But the worst: as soon as her boss was around, as soon as I was approaching, the person started to smile at me in the friendliest way and talked to me happily…

Verified reviewVery nice location on the beach. It is a famous fish and seafood restaurant with a few rooms. We had a sea view room and it was really comfortable. Great value for money. The fact that there was this restaurant and fishing experience made the place lively. We arrived at 3 in the morning from the airport and it was a hassle free access to the room. I really want to come back!
All was well

Verified reviewThe location is amazing, right on the beach. Fell asleep and woke up to the sound of waves. My room was nice and huge, everywhere was clean and the food was lovely. Staff were friendly and helpful. You can eat inside or outside so basically you can spend the entire day on the beach, eating, drinking and people watching because there's always something happening. There are taxis right outside too and other restaurants, bars, shops and banks/cash points are within walking distance.
I can't think of anything!

Verified reviewWhat a beautiful location. Pictures dont give this place justice. The bed was comfortable, water pressure surprisingly good and everything was clean. Some noise from the beach could be heard occasionally, a dog barking or kids practicing football into the night, but nothing major. Thats the compromise of having sea views. Boats to Ngor Island leave from right in front almost non-stop. A small kiosk can be found across the street. Even though not everyone in the staff spoke english, we were able to communicate everything we needed. Especially Khalil went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed. Peace and love. The breakfast was simple, but decently priced compared to other places. We also loved the staff's dog, Leo.
It could be useful to include an info package in all rooms, with wifi details, breakfast times, maybe even the restaurant menu (in english), etc. Also location-wise you probably need to take a taxi to visit most places. The stunning coastline restaurants in Les Almadies can be walked to, if you like strolling around, but accessing the city center probably requires a taxi. Luckily taxis are really affordable and available 24/7 from right in front.

Verified reviewThis place is a little gem! I was sad to leave again. Plage Ngor is a prime location in Dakar. The white sandy beach is kept beautifully clean and free of litter by the friendly local residents. La Cabane du Pecheur is exactly what it says -- fishermen bring in a fresh catch every day, which the excellent kitchen prepares into wonderful meals. Other than going for long, safe, restful walks along the beach, I hardly had to leave this charming accommodation.

Verified reviewThe staff were so friendly and warm even though I couldnt communicate in French. The rooms are spacious, khalid the manager changed me to a lovely room upstairs with the ocean scenery. It was good waking up to the sea waves infront of me. I also felt safe as a female solo traveler.
The breakfast is billed separately not the traditional bed and breakfast. The restaurant is quite pricey.

Verified reviewThe property is just steps from the beach, offering a perfect location. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious, with everything being top-notch.
Flies and other bugs can be an issue due to the property's proximity to the beach and water, which attract them.

Nothing though La Cabane du Pecheur is not really a hotel. It is a restaurant with rooms.

Verified reviewRoom is nice and large enough. On the beach. Food fantastic.
Lack of customer service, in particular, the wait staff, but also overall, lacks a welcome or helping feeling. Feels like customers are a nusiance. It really detracts from what could be a fantastic place.
