Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

NetherlandsIt’s pricy, and for a certain rate you may expect that during a three day stay your tent will be cleaned and your towels replaced.. This was not done, nor apologized for…
Magical setting, even in low season enough to see and do!

AustriaEverything was fine.
It’s a very nice place. The tents are really comfortable and clean. The animals come close to the tent so you can sit on the veranda and watch antelopes. It’s very calm. The hotel lobby is beautifully decorated, the staff is very helpful and friendly. The dinner was great. I had a great stay and I also enjoyed the Safari.

GermanyHowever, I was a bit disappointed by the bathtub and mirror, which weren’t as clean as expected. Some room finishes could use improvement to maintain the luxury feel of the place.
The place is stunning—fully immersed in nature. The staff was very kind, the activities were lovely, and seeing wild animals while swimming was absolutely magical. A stay I’ll never forget! Already started recommending it to close friends!

United KingdomThe only small drawback was the 3 course a la carte menu. The food was amazing but my partner and I do not usually eat 3 courses and found it a little annoying that was the only dinner option. Some more flexibility on dining would have made it great.
Luxury tents with big beautiful beds. Each tent was well equipped with AC, fridge with milk and water, powerful showers. Giraffes, rhinos, antelope, monkeys and more show up at the watering hole regularly meaning you often get to watch them during breakfast and dinner or whilst around the pool! Mind blowing!! Staff and tour guides were fantastic. They catered for everything we needed. The guides were extremely knowledgeable and entertaining during game drives and activities. We did the sundowners on the mangroves tour which was stunning and well organised. The food was top notch and generous.

United KingdomExtremely pricey accommodation and dinner options. If you have an option and want to save money. Just stay at a close by hotel in Toubacouta and get a taxi for a day excursion here

SwitzerlandAs it was very very expensive, expectations were set high. My opinion on things that were disappointing or would need improvement: No welcome drink No flexibility- we requested a late checkout possibility and it was impossible. The reserve was not even 1/3 full and i did offer to pay extra but nothing could be discussed. You have to pay for wifi. This means you have to get a box. I would advise not to bother, it works quite badly so its a bit pointless. Its also a good opportunity to fully disconnect. I would advise against the lion encounter as the poor lions have to go through this circus the whole day. This is not only for the guests on the reserve, it is open to absolutely anyone and everyone. They are not mistreated but they are not free. I regret having done that.
Overall a good time at Fathala! There are lots of organized activities. We booked 4 and did not regret it. The best and most memorable one was the sundowner in the mangrove. Magical and perfectly well organized. The other one we loved was the morning bushwalk and we had breakfast with rhinos, buffalos, zebras… simply magical. The tent was beautiful and with the best bed ever. The tent has a mini fridge too. The breakfast was very good Staff tried to be as helpful as possible. Very nice and kind people The swimming pool is small but very nice with nice sunbeds. Very clean The BEST croissants and bread every morning. Wow! We loved them. Generous breakfast Perfect and flawless communication with Jolene prior our reservation. Very nice and professional- thank you Jolene!

GreeceWe found the extra services provided too expensive, breakfast was really poor and any meal provided given the circumstances and the fact that there were no other places to get food around, extremely expensive with no value for money
The property was very well arranged clean and overall really nice!

SenegalThis was my first time staying in a forest hotel and even though the hotel room was a tent, the facilities were very good with air conditioning and washroom. The Safari experience was very good and I took a lot of pictures of birds and wild animals. The staff of the hotel are very warm and polite and provide professional English service. It was a very memorable experience.

ColombiaAbsolutely immersive in wild life, way away from the common, prices surprisingly reasonable considering the distance from Dakar. I doubted very much if it was worth traveling that far, arriving from Saly and Dakar, but after being there, my joy compensated it all

You have to enjoy being away from it all of course, but for us, Fathala was a fantastic experience. The tents we staid in were comfortable, beautiful scenery with amazing animals. We did several tours which were not breathtaking but on the other hand a nice way to discover the region. We'd like to especially thank the Fathala team for the "special" opportunity they gave us to discover "behind the scenes". This was unique !!

Czech RepublicIt's more like a zoo - only a few animals, used to people. But nice to see. Ants in the bed - but we were in nature, so we understood. I am not sure if it's worth the money- this place is really expensive.
Awesome place. Great food, friendly staff, and cool rooms. Nice to chill and watch animals.

United StatesI didn't like not having a la carte selections for breakfast and dinner. They were fixed price. It would have been nice to have a Continental Breakfast option with juice , coffee and toast or muffin, without having to pay the full buffet cost of 18€.
I liked everything about Fathala Wildlife Reserve. The tented room was large, quiet, clean and very comfortable. The A/C worked well, and I paid for a router in the room to have excellent WiFi connections. I loved the outdoor shower, and the peace and serenity of the setting.

United KingdomAt night the room was uncomfortably cold. dinner was not very good. I have non dairy and gluten free diet which I notified the lodge of but the fish was served with couscous and creamy white wine sauce.(I don't eat meat) I asked for alternative fish with rice but the fish was bland and extremely boney. There was no vegan dishes and no Senegalese dishes on offer for dinner.
Breakfast was very good. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We saw a lot of animals which was great as was the walk with lions.
