Reviews of Bazouk Du Saloum Ecolodge

Bazouk du Saloum is a magic place, immerged in the nature (we were surrounded by birds while having breakfast). The activities that the place propose are really interesting. The staff was very friendly and always happy to help. The food was very good. I would come back anytime.

The place is clean and idyllic. The fact that there are no cars on the island adds to the eco friendliness. The food is amazing and the staff is very welcoming.

The beds could be more comfortable and there should be more than a fan in the room.

The location, with the delta and the mangrove forest on one side, and the local villages on the other one. The staff, absolutely exceptional and ready to solve any problem the guests may have

Nothing it was amazing!

Wonderful food, peaceful location, lovely staff. Activities to do, if you wanted, but also a heavenly place just to rest and do nothing, except eat nice food, read, chill in a hammock and swim in the river. Everything was spot on.

Charming and peaceful oasis in nature, run in an ecologically sustainable way with proceeds going to local communities. Cute bungalows, fully equipped and clean, a quiet little private beach with free kayaks, good food, very friendly and fun staff, a very familiar feel, and lovely owners who kept checking in with all the guests. Tours offered covered a wide range of interests with engaging and well-informed local guides.

The extra bed in the bungalow could have been bigger - clearly meant for a child, so slightly uncomfortable for a grown-up. Water pressure wasn't great, but that's understandable because water is scarce. Our stay was very nice in any case, these are just points that could maybe be improved.

A beautiful location on the water. Lots of comfortable and shaded spots outside to watch the birds and relax. lovey bungalows to stay in. Easy to book short excursions by boat were enjoyable. The staff were so kind, attentive and really lovey to talk to (big shout outs to Babacar, Juste, Ami, and Awa during my stay. Appreciated you and the rest of the staff very much).

Disappointed to not have ANY Senegalese food on the menu. A mix of that and the french cuisine would be welcomed.

Breakfast was included, and for not too much you can get a three-course meal for lunch and dinner. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Nice excursions and activities, private beach. Would recommend!

We only had one fan in our room for four people, so it was very hot at night.

Evening meal was very tasty

The room was very hot even with shutters open. One wall fan for three seperate beds so it didn’t really cool anyone. Either more fans or air con for the price of the room.

Incredibly clean and manicured property. Very comfortable cabins. Super friendly staff.

There is nothing to dislike

BAZOUK du SALOUM What a very special place. I cannot recommend this ecolodge highly enough. We had booked the smallest lodge available but it was absolutely perfect for our needs and even had a little terrace and a hammock under the shade of a tree. The beds are really comfortable and are surrounded by mosquito nets. WiFi is perfectly adequate for catching up on emails and messages. We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of food and the generous portions. Breakfast is Freshly made bread and homemade jam, Coffee and juice. We definitely didn’t need lunch! Dinner is a set menu and a we were served a good variety of local dishes during our stay. Marie and Philippe are perfect hosts and checked everyday to see if there was anything we needed. All the staff are very friendly and willing to help you. You can explore as much or as little as you want. It’s perfectly possible to walk along the beach for an hour in either direction. There are kayaks to use free of charge and I recommend exploring the mangroves and watching the kingfishers and wading birds. My favorite spot was the covered deck at end of the pier. It is so peaceful and the perfect place to enjoy a gin and tonic whilst watching the sun go down. If you want to explore further afield there are lots of trips and excursions planned for you and are all excellent value for money! If we ever return to Senegal the BAZOUK du SALOUM will be our first port of call and we will book direct with Marie and Philippe. Thank you for a fabulous stay!

Amazing food and nice clean beach with beach beds and kayaks. Very warm welcome and company during the whole stay and well organized outings.

It would have been good to have umbrellas on the beach, as most of the day it was not possible to sit there due to the sun. I understand the Eco aspect, but having only 1 charging station is a bit inconvenient

Idyllic location and hosts that make you feel very welcome. A place to completely switch off. The food was great and the activities we did were excellent - birdwatching trip by pirogue and a walk with a herbalist on the island. We loved being able to swim directly from the lodge and the little beach is great. Would recommend the accommodation with the river view.

We very much appreciated the consciousness around the environment and social responsibilty of the owners. Solar power, no plastic, excellent fare. The food was spectacular and we enjoyed the excursions!

Amazing location, attentive staff and fabulous food, would definitely recommend

This is a truly beautiful and peaceful spot in Sénégal. We had a very relaxing three days here with Marie and Philippe as excellent hosts. We appreciated the ethical ethos of the place and the food was delicious. We particularly enjoyed taking the canoe out towards the end of the day and spotting what birds we could in the mangroves. I would highly recommend this little oasis ☺️

The location is amazing The host Marie is really lovely You can choose between a 3 meal course or just the main course,it was always exellent

We had an amazing stay, Marie is such a beautiful host, so welcoming and helpful, she arranged all of our transfers, amended the menu as we don't eat meat and takes time to engage with every guest. It is such a tranquil place to spend a few days, they have such a good ethos, attention to detail and every meal was incredible. Highly recommend!

The only fault was the mattress in our room which needs to be replaced in the near future :)
