How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Verified reviewLoved our short holiday here! Our villa was very close to the beach, just a few meters away. The beach itself is more than 15kms long and there are very few people even during the busy season. The water was calm with no waves and the weather was perfect, sunshine with light sea breeze and few clouds. We also loved the rooms as they seemed to be even more spacious compared to the pictures and we even enjoyed a nicely prepared dinner by the local chef during the evening in the dining room.

Verified reviewWe liked everything, starting from the moment of check-in. It was very quiet and soothing, just what we wanted from our holiday in Thailand. The staff were very kind and attentive to all of our wishes and requests. Will definitely return for a longer stay in the future as the island is a great place to relax and unwind from a busy city life. The pool at the villa was perfect for us. Verified reviewThe villa is very comfortable, has plenty of outdoor space where you can relax and the private pool is a great add on! Also, it was super clean. The location is amazing. It's very private and far from tourist packed areas - it really helps to disconnect and relax. The restaurant offers a lot of great local food! The owners have been very nice to us and are always available to help!

Verified reviewEnormous impressive Villa’s. Huge private pool. Beautiful, peaceful, well maintained grounds. If you want utter peace, privacy and quiet this may suit you.
For family with 4 kids, too isolated, absolutely nothing to do and nothing to visit in surrounding area. No one mentioned needing to get a ferry and taxi to and from resort. Most Thai resorts have stunning restaurants. Ataman has brightly lit, plain small room. About 5 tables and manager sits in the corner on his computer when you dine??? If you need any drink or food you have to phone manager? This is my holiday. Didn’t feel special, lacked warmth, lacked soul. Thankfully Thai staff lovely.

We are, however, puzzled by some of your comments describing your experience with us. Our location is publicly available on our front page with detailed descriptions and pictures. Such location was chosen specifically that our guests can take a proper rest and enjoy their vacation in peace and quiet, far away from any noisy or crowded areas. Furthermore, our staff specifically reminded you about the ferry crossing 3 days before your arrival date, since we are located on an island. Our private restaurant was designed to only serve our guests and not outsiders to ensure that it is always quiet and relaxing, and that our chef is always available. Since we only have 6 villas, we don't need a big restaurant for such purpose, but our guests can always ask for their food to be served at their villa's large dining room instead. In addition to that, we have been in constant contact with you since your arrival and suggested various activities for you and your children. While not all activities were available during your stay as it was low season in Thailand, we still had plenty of options to choose from. What is confusing us even more is that you haven't expressed your concerns above when we asked you whether you needed any assistance from our side. We always strive to improve our services and facilities to maximise our guest's happiness and comfort, as well as go our of our way to fix any issues that our guests might encounter during their vacation. That's why we always ask our guests on how they are feeling during their stay, but we can't do much if we are not informed on what their concerns are.
