Location of the property is just amazing! In the middle of nature, the views are just amazing. I could really relax in there. And the hosts are so lovely, very helpful and kind :) I loved the fact that there were free bikes for rent, so I could explore the area. Rice porridge very tasty!

The doors to the room were a glass window, so it was not so private (but there were curtains so everything was covered). It was not a big deal, I felt really comfortable and safe in there :)

I loved my nice cozy clean bedroom with a big bed and a fridge and A/C and a spectacular view to the Mangrove. The bathroom is very clean and nice but outside the bedroom you have to go down the stairs. The bedroom made me feel like in a boat. I loved it. You leave your luggage outside the doors as it is very small. The sisters in charge of the hotel are so nice and helpful. They made my stay so easygoing. She picked me up for only 700bhat at the ferry. I also used the bikes and kayak for free. It is a lovely place.

it’s been three weeks since we left Baan Chan Lay, but as one of our most memorable stays in Thailand, I feel I have to leave a review. Baan Chan Lay is truly a unique experience—not just because of its location and cozy vibe, but because of the way the two owners go above and beyond to make you feel at home. Their hospitality is heartfelt, effortless, and genuinely welcoming. When we weren’t reading a book while overlooking the bay or enjoying a peaceful, complimentary canoe ride, the warm and inviting living room atmosphere encouraged interaction with other guests, creating a sense of community. We had the smallest room, barely big enough for a bed, but with a TV (including Netflix) and a stunning view, it turned out to be one of the coziest and most charming stays we’ve ever had.

Really well maintained and spotlessly clean guesthouse with lovely owners. Kayaks and bicycles to use for free. Scooters available to rent. Fridge and kettle in room with water in refillable glass bottles and free coffee, tea etc. Beds were really large and comfortable. Lovely terrace overlooking the sea and mangroves with an assortment of seating. Great place to relax and chill. A taxi service from the ferry pier to guesthouse can be organised through them for 700 baht as opposed to 1000 through the taxis that wait at the pier.

For the price it would be nice to have breakfast included. The food was very expensive (there are some much cheaper places on the main road a short walk or bike ride away). The terrace was very nice but would be good have an area where you could sit and relax privately. Obviously not the owners fault but when we stayed there was a family with 2 young children, not the chilled and relaxed atmosphere we were after. Would also be nice if the coffee, sugar etc wasn't in individual wrappers. Lots of waste

This place is a true gem! Really enjoyed my stay here. The hotel feels like a cosy homestay where you get the chance to meet and talk to other people in the common area. The people running the place were extremely nice and helpful. Food was great. The area is a cosy little fishing village, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Will be coming back here next time i'm in Koh Chang. Note: The place is located on the southeast side of the island. To get to the west side of the island you need to drive up north, there is no road connecting the west and east coast in the south. The east side of Koh Chang is very quite and not as developed as the west side. We had no problem driving to the west side when we wanted some more life.

Idyllic location. Owners were very friendly made you very welcome.

We were the only residents. Not much to do. Only one bar nearby. They do food and drinks at the villa until 7.00pm. Rooms are small but have comfortable beds and linen. Good job we didn’t stay longer, two days was enough cramped in a small room. Got woken up in the morning at 6.00am with next doors transistor radio. We came because we were curious of 9.6 on booking.com??

The ladies who ran this small home stay were charming and spoke good English. We stayed 4 days and ate there about half the time, and every meal was really good - without exception. We enjoyed swimming off the deck in the mangrove at high tide, and made good use of the kayaks to explore the coastal area and into the mangrove. Great bird life. Very peaceful. This is the last house at the end of a lane so totally private location

Great hospitality and uniqe chance to stay in tradionall Thai looking house at the edge of mangrove forest! Very nice meals and special care you feel from the owners!

During low tide you can not swim in the river mouth at all.

Quiet relaxing environment, with the owner checking on our every need with great friendliness. She was very proud of her establishment and the food that she served. Her food was very good, especially the green curry. She gave advice when we asked and lent us a kayak.

Having stayed in several other villages, hotels and home stays we can say that in comparison there was nothing wrong here.

Food was wonderful, great breakfast lunch and dinner options. Food for kids was good too. Lovely welcoming owners. Such a peaceful spot. Other guests were all lovely too. Good nearby restaurants and mini marts. We had a lovely stay and wish we could have stayed longer! The owners arranged a boat to take us to Bang Boa pier.
