We enjoyed a wonderful stay here. The host was extremely friendly, kind and cooked excellent breakfasts daily. The location was very convenient for the beach, cafes and restaurants. The property was extremely clean and we'd definitely stay there again.

Nothing, perfect stay.

Rooms: Clean, comfortable, hot high pressured shower and great AC! Location: Perfect, 2 minute walk to the beach with the most restaurants near on the island. Hosts: Amazing people. The woman’s breakfast was big and delicious, and changed every day. Water, beer and snacks were available for a good price. The male owner taught me how to ride a scooter and rented them for an extremely good price.

Really nice clean room with comfy bed and nice shower. Good location right by the beach and a lot of places to eat and drink on the same road. The nicest lady and man run the hostel, they’re so sweet I would go back just to see them! Nice breakfast too

Booked last minute, sent a taxi to pick us up that evening, room was clean, breakfast was amazing each day (and was a different meal each morning cooker fresh), the owners treated us like family and returned a lost item that they found under the bed after we had left for the pier. Great location, surrounded by great restaurants and beach clubs. They also rent scooters at a good price, with helmets available.

I had an amazing time at Baan TaLay hostel and on Koh Mak island. The hosts were incredibly friendly and always ready to help. It's rare to find such welcoming people, and it made my stay so much more enjoyable. The breakfast they serve is delicious – a perfect start to the day. Plus, they offer scooter rentals, which made exploring Koh Mak Island super convenient. I was also impressed that they have a laundry service, which was a lifesaver during my stay. Koh Mak itself is beautiful, and this hostel is the perfect base to enjoy everything the island has to offer. I loved every minute of my time here and would absolutely come back in the future. Highly recommend!

Location was perfect, right in the middle of the walking street with minimarts and restaurants all around, and with a beautiful sandy beach just 2 minutes walk away. The owners are super friendly and always there to help you. They also rent scooters at a competitive price. Breakfasts are amazing!!

Some noise from restaurant next door in the evening (can probably be fixed by wearing earplugs). There were no bedside tables in our room. Only one outlet for charging and it was not close to the beds. An extention cord could be useful. A fridge would also be nice to have. Just small things but overall we really enjoyed our stay here!

Clean & simple private room with private bathroom and aircon. Good location close to the beach and many good restaurants. The owners greet you with a smile, they are so kind and helpful. Free breakfast was delicious, freshly cooked and changed every day (one portion + coffee/tea & toast). Very affordable bike rental & laundry service.

The staff were very attentive, arranged our motor bikes and even collected them from the pier after we left. The rooms were comfortable and exceptionally clean. The included breakfast was great and cooked individually for each guest once they sat down for breakfast.

We stayed for 3 nights, very good price although is a very simple hostel. Breakfast is good. Bike rental pretty cheap and I also like how easy the whole process chek-in was.

- as an improvement, a little fridge in the rooms would be nice.

- the lovely lady and her brother are the sweetest people you can meet. She would do the best and beyond to make you have a pleasant stay. And only with her smile she will illuminates your day. - the rooms are simple but very clean. the bed is comfortable, AC works well, there is hot water - location is 2 minutes from a beautiful beach, and surrounded by restaurants and mini shops. You can rent a moto there or next door if you want to, though the island is so small that you can also walk around or rent a bicycle (it is mainly flat). - the breakfast is absolutely fantastic. I still don't know how she makes something different but tasty and beautiful to look at every morning! Best breakfast in Thailand, for sure. - the hostal is very quiet, overall the tourists in Koh Mak were very chill (couples and families), and it was a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere (no party, no smoking everywhere, no traffic,...) - the cleanliness of the hotel is impeccable. They are cleaning all day and making you feel at home - We will never forget the attention we received here and we are very thankful for this beautiful stay. - we will come back to Koh Mak and will definitely recommend Baan Talay to all of our friends.

I loved it all. The room is simple and has what one needs. I loved the smell of the room and the laundry detergent they use. It’s close to the beach. They seemed to have fixed the issue of the cold water as everything was running smoothly when I was there. The hosts are so nice and helpful!

Actually only the location of the room, which was directly by the reception. The toilet was inside the room, but since it didn't have a window of its own, or a real door, the room is not really for honeymooners. Would have given the place a 10, though, if they had another room for us. Obviously they were full, so we just got the last possible option.

Super friendly, helpful hosts, good breakfast included, excellent location, the best restaurant on the island 50 meters away, cheap beer by the reception/bar.

We stayed for 6 nights each day made so much more enjoyable because of the wonderful people that run it. Warm, friendly helpful and kind. The rooms are basic, but clean & comfortable. Towels were supplied and if you needed fresh ones you just need to ask. Unfortunately our bed was too hard, very common in Thailand staff did supply an extra topper to try and help. Breakfast is freshly made each day, with coffee, water & toast. Location was great, beach across the road, cafes, bars all around. Please do bear in mind it can be noisy at night particularly the dogs, bring ear plugs. I would have scored a full ten had my bed been comfy. I do not think they are all firm as my friends were softer. Absolutely great value for money! Other friends were in a large hotel opposite they said service was not a patch on ours.

The only thing that was a small issue was that the main door to the rooms has a glass panel, so light shines through when the corridor light goes on when guests arrive back at night. It wasn’t a big problem but maybe a curtain to cover the glass would be helpful. Also a small bedside table would be a great addition.

This hostel is exactly as described. The hostel is located along the main walking street so close to shops, restaurants, bike rental etc . It is clean, comfortable and the staff are very kind. The included breakfast is freshly cooked when you are ready in the morning and was one of the best that we had in 3 months of travelling in south east Asia. My husband wasn’t well whilst we stayed and one kind member of staff gave him fruit and a special drink to help him feel better. The genuine kindness was much appreciated. We would recommend this place as an ideal base to explore the island on a budget.

Just one thing: I had some worms coming into my room from outside. They are not harmfull though.

Looooved staying here. The rooms are spacious with lots of shelving and hangars. Bed is comfy, aircon is a plus. Only cold shower, but ok with these temperatures. The ladies who work there are adorable. So friendly and helpfull. Breakfast is yummy, they even waited with our breakfast past the usual hours of 10 am. Wifi works good.

Nothing, it met my needs for my stay. I wanted to stay more, but the place was fully booked.

It is a very nice and clean place, on one of the main streets of the island, close to shops and a couple of beaches. The room and the bathroom were spacious enough, and although having basic facilities, everything was sparkling clean. The white colour of the walls, furniture and bed, emphasized how clean and fresh was the room. The manager is very kind and helpful and the breakfast she makes every morning was very delicious (eggs - cooked differently every day, salad, hot dogs, fruit, toasta, butter, jam, cocoa for me and depending on the day you may have bacon or avocado). The internet was good and the AC was working at European standards (if you set up for cold, you need a jacket). Also I received a free ride from the place to my next accommodation place.

They are really helpful! ! Clean room and very tasty breakfast is included :) Also this hostel has very good location !! Restaurant, supermarket, scooter. Next time if I come back to ko mak I would stay again in here.
